Video: Aussies help GB riders as they get LOST on way to Olympic velodrome

They'l be rivals on the track next week, but a helping hand is always appreciated...

Some of Team GB's track cyclists got help from an unexpected quarter when they got lost on the way to the Olympic velodrome in Rio earlier today - with their Australian rivals stepping in to show the way.

Four years ago in London, there were no such problems in London - golden girl Laura Trott comes from just up the road from the Lee Valley VeloPark, of course, and the velodrome was the closest venue to Team GB's digs in the Olympic Village at Stratford.

But as this video posted to Instagram from team pursuit colleague Elinor Barker shows, the British riders seemed well and truly lost as they tried to get to the venue in Brazil.

How many idiots does it take to find a velodrome? #rio2016

Luckily, the Aussies, who've spent a few more days in Rio as they prepare for the Games - Team GB's track riders only flew out on Wednesday - were on hand to show the way.

For all the intense rivalries during competition, track cycling at the very top level is a small world, and as well as healthy respect, friendships get formed that transcend national differences - this being a great example of the sportsmanship that leads to.

Mind you, with the track events being the cycling equivalent of The Ashes, the Ausssies couldn't resist a bit of gentle sledging ...
