A video round-up that features gravel and dirt in abundance this week, also some snow, some yellow, and actually very little tarmac action. Balls. There’s loads of ball bearings too.
Danny MacAskill - Yellow Memories
Danny MacAskill reminisces about his beginnings in trials riding and the iconic Magura HS33 Raceline hydraulic rim-brakes that came in fluorine yellow, a component that can still bring a tear of wistfulness to the eye of any mountainbiker of a certain age. Danny’s new signature Magura MT7 disc brake comes in that fluro colour. Wist no more.
Bombtrack - Groundwork 2016
Bombtrack bikes held their first ever Groundworks event at "La Chateau de Gressoux" in the Franche-Comté region of France recently as a thank you to all those that have helped the bike brand along the way. Looks like it was fun, can I borrow a Bombtrack bike just to join in next year please?
Striders in the snow
Not one to let a bit of snow get in the way of their push-along cycling fun these Chibi hit the slopes with grace and style.
Trials skills
I know, not a bike, not even an e-bike, but Spanish motorbike trials rider Toni Bou pops a sweet move here. There’s a reason he’s World Champion. It’s got two wheels, it’s a quiet week, indulge me.
Bikepacking From Croatia to Greece
Here’s Hunt Bike wheels brand manager Josh Ibbett video diary as he cycles from Croatia to Greece. Just a little pootle for ultra-endurance cyclist Josh who won the 4,200 kilometres long 2015 edition of the Transcontinental.
XPDTN3 LA RIOJA
XPDTN3 is an informal club of photographers, adventurers, (ex-) pro cyclists and bike industry lifers who love their bike expeditions but like the rest of us don’t have the time for epic treks across continents and have to squeeze their adventures into three days instead. Their latest jaunt was visiting La Rioja in Spain for perfect gravel and some of world's best wines.
Wintergatan - Marble Machine
This is where all those ball-bearings that disappear under the fridge go. Really.
Brayden Barrett-Hay: Homestead
You could spend the weekend putting some new decking down for BBQs in the Summer and somewhere to put the chiminea, or you could build this instead.
Dust Lust - Unsupported gravel race series
Inspired by the Tuscany Trail bikepacking event the Dust Lust is an unsupported bike race through the outskirts of Ljubljana, the capital city of Slovenia. 170km long and with 2500m of elevation is not an easy ride, especially as it’s about 70% gravel trails.
IAM Cycling - Keep Fighting – Episode One
Launched in 2013 the IAM Cycling team will sadly not be present in the peloton next season so here’s Part 1 in a series of four goodbye stories and a behind the scenes look at what keeps a team going through the Tour de France.
That should have procrastinated you enough towards the weekend, now go and ride your bike.
