As the year comes to an incredulous close let’s try to lighten the mood with a round-up of the most recent cycling related videos. Hopefully no cultural icon will die whilst you watch these, but we can’t promise anything.
Federal Bikes - LIBERTE
Here’s an edit, as they call it, from BMX bike brand Federal on their visit to Lyon in France. It’s a bit different to your usual thrash and burn BMX video with an interesting use of imagery and different choice in soundtrack including some French rap. Did he just sing about jam? I think he did.
Hope nut
You don’t need a sledgehammer to crack a nut, just a Hope milling machine.
Portal Racing
Portal Racing!
Now this would make those boring training rides a lot more interesting, jumping through a portal to a different part of the world every so often.
CHRIS AKRIGG - AS IT LIES
in his latest outing Yorkshire and the World’s leading trials rider Chris Akrigg uses features that crop up in the natural environment to bounce about and play on rather than build lines, ride purpose built trails or jump off a house. Keeping it real up on't moors, as he says.
8bar team - ROAD 2 MILAN - part II
This is the second part of the 8bar team at the Red Hook Criterium Milan 2016, you may have seen the first part here a few weeks ago when they skidded down the Splügen Pass. Here they are at their destination finally getting down to the nitty gritty of fixed racing.
The Colorado Trail Race Trailer
The Colorado Trail Race is a 500 mile self-supported mountainbike race from Denver to Durango with 70,000 feet of elevation gain as it works its way through the Rocky Mountains. With no entry fee, no registration, no support and no prize money it’s something you do just because you want to. Or have to. You might have to sell your house though.
A Bikepacking adventure with WHY Cycles
Further off-road jollies with the Why Cycles crew as they enjoy bikes, beer and friends over a few days bike-packing in Utah.
NAHBS preview
The North American Handmade Bicycle Show (NAHBS for short) started in 2005 as a showcase for the craft of the handmade bicycle frame. This video review of the 2016 show promotes the 2017 edition on March 10th-12th. If Salt Lake City is a bit far to go to look at custom made bikes then the Bespoked Handmade Bicycle Show in Bristol from April 7th-9th offers an easier travel option.
Developing the new DURA-ACE R9100 series
Take a spin with some of the top professional cycling teams and hear what Shimanos engineers envisioned for the new Dura Ace Version groupset and power meter.
Mathieu Van der Poel Crash - Azencross Loenhout
Dutch champion Mathieu van der Poel crashed haaaard at the Azencross Loenhout CX race and lay motionless and unconscious for several minutes, eventually taken off the course in a neck-brace and on a stretcher. Thankfully he was released from hospital a few hours later luckily okay.
And that’s it for the 2016 Round Ups, here’s to more awesomeness, silliness, and crashiness next year.
Hopefully the new device is a big success, but wahoo do have a lot work to do in terms of convincing that their quality control has improved. ...
