A Bristol man is celebrating turning 70 - by cycling 70 kilometres every day for 70 days.
Jeff Webber, a member of the North Bristol Cycling Club, plans to rack up a total ascent of at least 70,000 metres during his 1-0-week challenge.
Along the way, he is raising money for the Wallace & Gromit's Grand Appeal in aid of Bristol Children's Hospital.
He said on his Just Giving page: "I have been extremely lucky to have had a relatively disease and injury free passage to this stage of my life.
"I have set a challenge to raise funds for Bristol Children’s Hospital to help children who are considerably less fortunate than myself."
Mr Webber set off on Saturday 1 July and is logging his rides on Strava.
He said: "I shall be riding from from home every day using ten different routes that provide the distance and climbing needed to meet the challenge. That way I have the option to complete each route seven times which helps to keep repetition to a minimum. It is very likely that Sunday club rides will also be included."
He added: "The ten routes are planned and with Garmin devices there is an option for others to be able to track progress. All rides will be automatically uploaded from the Garmin to Strava so there can be no cheating!"

I am sorry to say my cycling challenge has come to an end today after 50 days. I have a problem with my right leg which means I can no longer pedal and I have no option other than to call a halt.
A massive thanks to everyone who has supported me with the challenge with all your kind words, support and encouragement on the rides and, of course, all the very kind and generous donations.
For anyone interested here are the stats form the 50 days completed:
Distance 4,261.60 km (2,648 miles)
Ascent 53,273 metres (174,780 feet)
Day 35 today so halfway there. For those that are interested the distance covered so far is 3,012 km (1,871 miles) with climbing of 37,311 metres (122,411 feet). Thanks again to everyone for their support and encouragement, it really is a great help especially on those days when the weather is miserable!

Wonderful thing to do. For himself, for the hospital, & for the many others he might inspire along the way.
Sounds a lovely way to celebrate - I do hope I can emulate this when I reach that particular milestone!
