North Yorkshire Police have appealed for witnesses after a motorcyclist was killed and a cyclist left with life-threatening injuries following a collision near Settle on Sunday morning.
The pair were travelling in the same direction on an unclassified road between Wigglesworth and Rathmell at around 10.39am when the crash happened.
Officers said that the motorcyclist, a 36-year-old man from Rochdale, Greater Manchester riding a Suzuki GSX-R motorcycle, was approaching the cyclist from behind when the collision happened.
Both he and the cyclist, a 61-year-old man from Colne, Lancashire, sustained life-threatening injuries and both were taken to hospital by emergency helicopter.
The motorcyclist subsequently died at Leeds General Infirmary, while the cyclist remains in a serious but stable condition at the Royal Preston Hospital..
Police praised members of the public who stopped to administer first aid at the scene.
They have also appealed for anyone who saw the collision, or who can remember the way either the cyclist or motorcyclist was riding beforehand, to come forward.
