Police Scotland are appealing for information after video emerged of a cyclist and motorist having a fist-fight in Aberdeen
The incident happened on Thursday afternoon on Victoria Street in the Torry district of the city in north east Scotland, reports the Evening Press.
The newspaper, which has video of the incident on its website shot from the dashcam of a car stopped nearby, quotes the bystander who shot it as saying: “I couldn’t believe it. It just happened totally out of the blue.
“All of a sudden a man came out of the car and started brawling with the cyclist.
“There were punches flying everywhere.
“I’ve never seen anything like it.
“I didn’t know what to do,” he continued – although he clearly had the presence of mind to whip his phone out and start filming.
There is no indication of what precipitated the confrontation, but the footage shows the pair trading punches before going their separate ways, after a final exchange of words and gestures.
“It was the sort of thing you might expect to see at kicking-out time in the city centre on a Saturday night, not in the middle of a busy road in broad daylight,” added the person who filmed the incident.
“I didn’t see what sparked it but it got really heated and was actually quite frightening.
“Thankfully, nobody seemed to be seriously hurt and they both went on their way before it got even more out of hand.”
Police Scotland have confirmed that the incident, which happened at 4.10pm on Thursday afternoon, has been reported to them and are appealing for witnesses.
Sergeant Ross Geddes commented: “We are aware that this incident was filmed and we can confirm that it has now been reported to us and inquiries are ongoing."
He added: “I would urge anyone who saw the incident or who has any information to contact officers on 101 using reference number 3667 of 12/7.”

"It just happened totally out of the blue." - with enough time for the motorist to stop, and for the cyclist to stop, get off his bike and stand it upside down on handlebars-and-saddle... Not not exactly all in a split second, was it?

Because the first instance is always more preferable than the second...
The newspaper is the Evening Express, not the Evening Press
The motorist collided with a fist ...
..and the motorist wasn't wearing a helmet - how come the police are even investigating when he so clearly brought it on himself?
That isn't a fist fight? Not a single decent punch, just handbags at dawn...
As neither party was wearing hi-viz, they obviously couldn't see each other on the road.
Yep, luckily neither of them knew a great deal about fighting , otherwise it might have been a serious assalut case.
It's a decent ride from Worcester to Aberdeen, fair play.
Fixed gear rider vs Insignia man. What a face off.
