David Millar & Ned Boulting, plus The Cycling Podcast team, to take centre stage at Yorkshire World Championships

Harrogate is the place to be in late September

David Millar and Ned Boulting, as well as the team from The Cycling Podcast, will take to the stage in Harrogate this September when the North Yorkshire town becomes the hub of the 2019 UCI Road Cycling World Championships.

Millar and Boulting – who will once again be the ITV4 commentary team for the Tour de France over the coming three weeks – will host two events in Harrogate’s Royal Hall (ticket information here).

The first, called Over T’Rainbow – yes, we’re talking about Yorkshire – is on  Saturday 21 September and celebrates the region’s cycling heritage, while their second gig, on Thursday 26 September, is called Ned n’ Dave’s Pot of Gold and examines the history of the UCI Road World Championships.

The following day, Friday 27 September, sees The Cycling Podcast team of Richard Moore, Lionel Birnie and Daniel Friebe share their thoughts on the championships.

Yorkshire 2019 CEO Andy Hindley said: “We want the 2019 UCI Road World Championships to be the most inclusive and most enjoyable Championships ever, and organising top-quality entertainment on top the racing will play a huge part of that.

“We’re delighted to have Ned, David and The Cycling Podcast team onstage at Harrogate’s Royal Hall during the Championships and the shows will be must-sees for people descending on the county this September. Demand will be high so we encourage cycling fans and local aficionados to book early.”

Millar – winner of four Tour de France stages during his career – said: “Yorkshire has become one of the most important homes of cycling not just in this country, but across the world. I can’t wait to be there once again to celebrate the iconic rainbow jersey.

“Please join me and my commentating compadre Ned Boulting for two special evenings in honour of the single most special week in the racing calendar.”

Boulting added: “The full panoply of a mad eight days of racing on Yorkshire’s famously testing roads will be picked apart and dissected live on stage, before your very eyes.

“That’s the theory anyway, as David and I open our contacts books and invite some special guests to join us in marking a unique moment in the history of bicycle racing on this sceptred isle.

“Saturday’s show will look back at some of the great stories of local cycling legends and on the Thursday we will be focusing more on the current racers and the rainbow jersey contenders.

“Each night will be a great way to celebrate the sport and enable people to find out more about what goes on behind the scenes.”

Speaking on behalf of The Cycling Podcast team, Moore said: “The UCI Road World Championships in Yorkshire promise to be huge.

“We’ll be there podcasting throughout the week but we’re especially excited about our show on the Friday evening.

“It’ll be the biggest one we’ve ever done and we’re looking forward to an evening of hopeless speculation in anticipation of the climax to the Championships.”

The UCI Road World Championships in Yorkshire run from 21-29 September. You can find full details of the programme here.

"Glad we can all have a nice level headed debate about this hugely important issue."

I agree. I mean I've been getting a little concerned recently about climate change, whether I'm saving enough for my pension, the health of my family and the issues surrounding Brexit. But this has really opened my eyes to the real issues in this world.

Your spot on ,it’s just  people on bikes .  Still nice to talk about stuff all-the same even my dead mum and dad indecision

check this out it might help you with the climate change https://www.corbettreport.com/episode-282-the-ipcc-exposed/

I am concerned about the NHS , it’s virtually become privatised  and has been run down .

Pensions suck now . Agree .

Brexit I would not worry about , lot of scaremongering going on and false narratives . Where TF  did Farage  come from . He’s so well connected . Johnson PM .  Trump president . It’s all just diversion tactics to hide the real shit going on ... take a look at the Panama papers. This is the real reason Cameron called for a referendum. Him and his Dad and his rich buddies where on the radar of some European countries for their offshore tax havens . Talking trillions of pounds involved . The perfectly timed referendum by Cameron has now put that all on the back burner ,it’s almost gone away .  Cameron most people thought, fucked things up when in fact he stopped a major investigation into him and his rich buddies involved in all kinds of corruption.   Jo Cox by the way wrote a few articles about this ,,,,interesting a . She was trying to expose this .

 Cheers Xena.

For what it's worth, I would agree with most of the points so far - Millar does come up as a bit up his own arse, but offers some insight into the thoughts and reactions of the peloton. I think that his use of PEDs in the past means he has knowledge of areas of the sport others may not, but I can see how people object to a former doper commentating.

Boulting is a bit too Sky/Ineos centric in his commentary, but I think this is probably a reflection of what the wider viewership of the programme are interested in as opposed to his own personal fanboi tendencies. The presentation of any sport in the UK is heavily biased towards British teams and sportspeople (at least he stops short of calling Geraint Thomas "G" - have you heard the BBC's BeSpoke podcast - it's embarassing) I think he's a decent enough commentator otherwise.

I'm just hoping that Gary Imlach is there to tidy procedings along.

A pair of complete utter morons . Millar should go away and stop pretending he has redeemed himself,  we all know  riders are still doing crazy fast climb times and getting busted on a regular basis  , nothing has changed . PED’s  have always been necessary to compete at the highest level and millar pretends like he does not know that and it’s hunky dory . Just own your doping like Armstrong does your a complete  utter pretentious chicken fidger and Ned is utterly deluded and his sky bias commentary boarders on xenophobia at times . Someone please remind him that Froome was born and raised in Africa and is not British ,English ,etc he’s African.  So many times when a french ,Spanish etc are racing to a win he starts bringing out their doping past or alleged doping past .all the time “ nothing proved against sky “ what  a funt .

You need to chill the fuck out before you have a heart attack sonny, or did Millar/Boulting shag your mum/dad whilst you was watching. is that why you're angry toward them both?

I have just read both of the above posts, one made a few good points and some I don’t agree with. The other post is a rant by someone who could only abuse the person who posted his thoughts and offered nothing constructive. I know who I think needs to chill out.

I agree that Millar should stop pretending that he has redeemed himself, he chose to inject PEDs into himself, there is no justification or excuse for doing that, it is a conscious decision to deprive honest people of something which could rightfully be theirs. As for needing PEDs to complete at the highest level, I don’t agree. O’bree, Boardman and LeMond are a few names which spring to mind.

i don’t need to do anything , I’m perfectly fine  just expressing myself ,By the way my mum and dad are both dead . So I don’t know how they are going to manage that .  Not something I would wish to see. but obviously the sort of thing your into .im sure you can get help for your “having sex with dead people issues”

See ,i don’t like them ( m&b ) ,they are the sky team of commentators, boring zzzzzzzzzz and have no edge or charisma. They  sound like they are dead in their pants. That’s probably your problem as well . You obviously don’t know how to debate and you could never mass debate ......anyway they suck  that’s my opinion . My mum and dad are cremated but I’m happy to send you a photo if it helps. I have to laugh another man coming to the defence of Ned Boulting . Brilliant  .

I have to agree with you on David Millar, he really does come across as up himself. I don't mind Ned Boulting as much, he is pretty new to cycling and is quite innocent and harmless. He is a bit of a Sky/Ineos fanboy, but no more so than the average english football commentator. Ineos/Sky are an international money making operation, they give as much of a shit about England as your average tory/brexit politician. Oh, and Chris Froome is not british

They don't really make any money.  None of the cyclng teams do.  INEOS have a big turnover, they have income from sponsorship / endorsements etc which help to make them the best funded team with people on the best wages, but they don't make a profit for anyone.

Boulting Pretty new to cycling.... brace yourself to feel old....  He became a reporter for ITV's Tour de France coverage in 2003 and has reported at every Tour since.

Miller very annoying when talking about himself but hands down one of the best commentators when of live cycling, explaining what is about to happen with more accuracy than most commentators have when explaining what has just happened.

All pro sports teams are money making operations, what is your point there?
