Tour de France 2011 hilarious highlights.jpgClassic Sunday night fare: the Tour de France 2011 funny compilation
We could have done without watching Johnny Hoogerland and Juan Antonio 'Norman Stanley' Flecha hitting the deck yet again and the music is dire but the annual compilation of 'best bits' featuring the 2011 Tour de France peloton and surrounding countryside is out courtesy of Eurosport France and it's full of laughs and a few grimaces.
You've got French former breakaway hero turned commentator Jacky Durand in an ice chamber, Cadel Evans changing bikes so often you wonder how he ever won the race and the usual cavalcade of caravan lovelies. Our favourite is Vacansoleil's Romain Feillu desperately pacing back up to the bunch all the while giving it 'thumbs up' to the car three inches off his front wheel. It's Tourtastic! It's only 47 weeks away again.

I thought the ITV4 roundup using ACDC's 'It's a long way to the top ( if you want to rock & roll)' as a tribute to Aussie Cadel was a nice touch. ACDC + bagpipes + procycling? That bloody clip of the TV car mowing down Flecha and Hoogerland is destined to be shown every damn year from now on, just like that tedious - yet at the same time sickening - clip of the end of Joseba Beloki's career on the road into Gap (you know, the one where a major contender for the GC is down, but the Liggwen can't stop bleeting on about how marvellous Lance Armstrong is that he can ride over a field.)
Feels like a lifetime ago already !
