Seems to have had a bit of a confused time what with drink driving. Giving up because you don't have the passion anymore is one thing - giving up because you've lost passion at that point in time is another.
Fair play for having the balls to stand up and say it. It is a shame though, a glittering career awaited.
Good on him! Takes guts to know yourself and take a big decision like that. Like every one of us who has given up racing, even at an amateur level, we know when we haven't got the drive anymore. When you stop enjoying it what's the point? It's just a job then...
Hope he can channel his obvious drive into something he loves, and also that he will find that he still loves riding his bike - I am sure he will!
Sad. Must be a huge talent to have achieved some big wins so young.
