Online cycling, swimming and running retailer Wiggle has launched what it describes as its “biggest athlete recruitment campaign ever,” looking for keen and talented sportspeople it can sponsor across a range of events in 2012.
As the company says, “You don’t have to have a room chock-full of medals but passion, drive and a smile are all essentials!”
Wiggle says it is looking for athletes aged 18 and over to sponsor in a range of disciplines, comprising Mountain Biking/Cyclo-Cross, Road Cycling, Triathlon/70.3/Ironman, Running/Marathon/Adventure/Fell, swimming and BMX/Trials.
Winners will benefit from a support package for 2012 that includes a race bike worth up to £2,000 (not available to swimmers or runners), a training bike worth up to £1,000, and clothing and equipment including Wiggle 2012 kit. They will also be entitled to discounts on other purchases from Wiggle.
Sponsored athletes for 2011 included triathlete Emma-Kate Lidbury, road cyclist Ben Simmons, and MTB and cyclo-cross rider Lee Williams, with highlights of their seasons featured on the Wiggle blog.
Jason Sims, Event and Athlete Manager at Wiggle, said: “Wiggle has had an incredible year. Our international exposure has meant that Wiggle’s activity has absolutely sky-rocketed!
“Successful applicants to the Wiggle Athlete Search 2012 will be joining at a time when there are doors opening all the time. Not only is there a total dream package but on top of this, you will have access to opportunities that we haven’t even anticipated!
“Come on board – join the Wiggle family!”
