This year’s Cycle Show, at Earls Court in October, is to have a special emphasis on the female cyclist as more women take to the road on two wheels.
The show will reflect a greater take-up of cycling by women with the launch of a host of in-show female-friendly features. In a first for the cycling industry, Cycle Show 2009 will host a series of Women’s Sessions to provide hands-on expert advice for the growing numbers of female cycling fans.
Mixing entertainment with informative discussion and taking audience questions, these sessions will see leading industry experts discuss the wide and varied issues facing women who cycle. It will discuss everything from the best outfits to wear whilst commuting to the best bikes for beginners.
Cycle Show 2009 will also host Bike Style Consultancy sessions incorporating fashion shows highlighting the very latest in cycling style, as well as personal shoppers on-site to give tailored advice on every cycling purchasing option. In addition, the mountain bike and commuter test track will hold dedicated sessions for women to try out a range of new bikes, and there will be a number of spectacular prize giveaways taking place.
The growing popularity of cycling amongst women has not gone unnoticed by the cycling industry. Andrew Brabazon, Cycle Show Director said: “We’ve known for years that female cyclists are just as passionate about cycling as their male counterparts but it is encouraging to see that so many new cyclists are women.
"In programming this year’s event, we were aware of the need to cater to this significant cycling audience and we are confident that we have an unparalleled range of speakers and in-show features tailored to a growing number of female attendees.”
