Nottingham to Pedal it Pink

Breast cancer ride in October with a choice of three routes

The second women-only cycle event, Pedal it Pink, will take place at the National Watersports Centre at Holme Pierrepont in Nottingham on October 25 in aid of Breast Cancer Campaign. Organisers are on the look out for ladies from Nottingham and the Midlands to challenge themselves to cycle a marathon – 26.2 miles – or half marathon – 13.1 miles – and hep beat breast cancer.

The first Pedal it Pink ride took place in Liverpool back in April and Olympic cycling champion and Pedal it Pink ambassador Victoria Pendleton took part in the half marathon with her mum.

She said: “I still had to keep my wits about me but there was more time to react than in the velodrome. It was great to see so many women out there supporting such a great cause and everyone was really supportive of one another, clapping and cheering each other on. What a great way to spend a Sunday afternoon.

“The first event was a fantastic success and I’m so thrilled to be supporting the second one in Nottingham. Not only is cycling a fabulous way to get in shape but the money you raise from taking part will help Breast Cancer Campaign continue funding vital breast cancer research."

All routes are completely enclosed within the park, so it’s safe, flat, traffic-free and suitable for both beginners and experienced cyclists. You can also get the rest of the family involved in the family 5K lap.

Entry to the full marathon is £15, half marathon £10, and the family lap £5. To enter visit www.breastcancercampaign.org, email pedalitpink [at] breastcancercampaign.org or telephone 020 7749 3700.
