Torq release Raspberry Ripple flavour gel

Torq have just announced Raspberry Ripple, the latest flavour in the range of gels. It joins Forest Fruits, Banoffee, Rhubarb and Custard, Orange and Banana, Black Cherry Yoghurt and Strawberry Yoghurt.

The 45g gel uses the same 2:1 Maltodextrin:Fructose blend that Torq use in all their other gels, and is claimed by the company to be the optimal carbohydrate blend. They don’t use any artificial sweeteners or colours.

As well as the new flavour, Torq have revamped the design of their gels to reduce littering. Expended gel and energy bar wrappers are becoming a problem as riders drop them by the side of the road, rather than pocket them until they get the opportunity to dispose of them properly.

Torq aren’t aiming to solve that problem, but do appear to have solved another. Opening gels is a fiddly operation that typically leaves you with the torn off flap of packaging, usually clenched between teeth. Torq’s solution leaves this small flap attached to the main packaging after you’ve opened it up.

The energy company has gradually expanded their range of gels over the years, since they first arrived way back in 2007, adding more flavours that challenge conventional wisdom when it comes to energy products. We’ve always gotten on well with Torq products, and their range of flavours are appetising even during the despair of an energy sapping ride when you’re at your physical limit.
