Land’s End to John O’Groats. It’s a well-used route for cyclists, whether it’s for raising money for charity or testing yourself and your bike. But Rebecca Wass is doing the trek for an altogether different reason.
Rebecca, who has just started following road.cc on Twitter, is riding from Lands End to John O’Groats, handing Twix and tea out to everyone she meets.
The chocolate bar is sharing a cuppa with the nation so Rebecca, who’s going by the name of the Twix Tea Lady, is giving away free cups of tea as she travels across teh country by bicycle.
The Twix Tea Tour, part of a Share a cuppa with Twix promotion, was launched yesterday by TV presenter and former glamour model Melinda Messenger.
Rebecca, a former youth worker from Norwich, beat hundreds of wannabe tea ladies to win the chance to cycle from Land's End to John O’Groats on a month-long world record attempt to deliver everyone she meets a free cup of tea and Twix bar.
The 28-year old, recently diagnosed with the painful muscular disease Fibromyalgia, has put her life on hold for the record breaking tea run which will be raising money for Heart FM’s ‘Have a Heart’ and Red Dragon FM’s 'Help a South Wales Child’ charities along the way.
She started her 934-mile journey yesterday, but no before a cuppa, of course. In fact a tour bus stopped off near the launch, so she did the polite thing and gave them all Twix and tea. She is expected to finish on October 13.
She finished her first day in four hours and five minutes, averaging around 12mph. Today Rebecca tweeted that she expects to arrive in Tavistock between 2-4pm so if you’re there then go and say hi and get a free Twix and a cup of tea.
You can follow Rebecca’s progress and find out where she is going to be on at twitter.com/TwixTeaLady.
And she may even be passing close to the road.cc office on her journey. Mmm can't wait, Twix and tea all round!
Plus, it takes just one bright spark with a drill to turn water-filled barriers back to the easily moved state.
Birmingham City Council "We're encouraging cycling." Birmingham City Council "We're banning cycling." How do they keep a straight face?
Well the threat of theoretically * "losing your licence" - even for a short period - is to many "cruel and unusual punishment". Akin to e.g....
Gosh, I thought I was a late comer to this
I managed to break the chain link on mine. (I assume it's the same product, mine came as part of a rather snazzy Birzman toolkit)....
Good review. I like to see the full range of 'award stars' in use to differentiate between good and 'meh' products. Same with the Ribble Allroad...
I was under the impression that “unbalanced investment from Arab countries” is having a not necessarily good impact on pretty much every sport.
Very true....
Like going to a cello lesson?
Any way you can actively get around is good....
