“We do not recommend you testing your eyes by driving,” says Primal about this new jersey, referencing Dominic Cummings’ infamous explanation for driving 25 miles to Barnard Castle (and back again).
Durham Police have said that Cummings might have broken coronavirus laws by taking a trip to Barnard Castle with his family on Easter Sunday.
Cummings said he took the drive to test his eyesight.
In response, the chairman of the Police Federation has urged people not to drive if they think their eyesight might be impaired.
John Apter wrote on Twitter: “Folks, I say this in all sincerity and as an important road safety issue. If you’re feeling unwell and your eyesight may be impaired do not drive your vehicle to test your ability to drive. It’s not a wise move.
“As a former road death investigator with Hampshire police I have investigated many serious collisions, including fatalities. Some of these were caused by drivers with impaired vision, this is a serious issue. Do not drive if your eyesight is impaired or you feel unwell.”
For each Primal eye test jersey sold, £5 will go to NHS Charities Together.
The cycling apparel manufacturer isn’t the only firm to reference the controversy with a product.
BrewDog has launched Barnard Castle Eye Test, “a short-sighted beer for tall stories.”
The beer is described as ‘hazy’.

I'm nostalgic about lockdown already. Dark humour, but I do feel better after a good laugh at this.
What gets me is the guy had days to think about what he was going to say. And his genius is supposed to be understanding how ordinary people think.
There's a new slogan for the C19 briefings:
It should read: if you can read this you are too close
Nice idea, but I wonder if it's too subtle. I can see drivers driving into the back of cyclists while trying to read their shirt...
A symbol of the complete ignorance and gullibility of the millennial generation. I will enjoy seeing people wear this jersey. I doubt we'll see similar jersey's to commemorate the 4 Labour MP's who actually broke the UK Lockdown rules? Thought not. There's no slap-on-the-back from your co-virtue-signalling friends for sharing unpopular facts. Such a letdown of a generation.
Ok boomer.

Are the full stop posts some kind of gen-Z thing I'm too old to know about?
I think it was an ajax triple post and the '.' replaced the repeated text.
Were any if those people driving 30 miles with their kids in the car, while having covid 19....to test their eyes?
Those are facts. Admitted by him and the clown.
Looking forward to Specsavers introducing their test drive eye test scheme. After all a top advisor to the PM thinks it's a good way to test eyesight. Hopefully they'll have some children on hand to pack in the car to make the test legitimate.
The trip to Barnard Castle absolutely was a break of lockdown rules. Well done AlexUK for bashing millenials to try and make your point, that's not a cliche at all. I have no idea how anyone can see his actions as reasonable. What an absolute cockwomble.
Has nothing to do with millennials. I'm far to old to be one. Cummings not only broke the spirit of the rules, with the Barnard Castle trip he broke the letter of them too. Given his position as the PMs SPAD he should hold himself to a higher standard.
It's a nice top too
Millenials? What has age got to do with this?
The issue that I see is not so much that someone broke lockdown rules, but all the effort that went into defending him (e.g. inferring that the police lied). As far as I'm aware there wasn't a concerted campaign involving several ministers to defend the 4 Labour MPs, so it looks like you're trying to make this into a Tories vs Labour issue when it's more Boris vs The People (including police and health workers).
Hi Grandpa! The difference is that eg Rosie Duffield has apologised and resigned her post, whereas Dominic Cummings has refused to admit he did wrong, and obviously lied about taking a 60 mile round trip with his wife and child to "test his eyesight". That is why 70% of the UK (not just millenials) are so incensed by this - it reinforces the idea that there is one rule for the Tory elite and different rule for the rest of us.
If you think that those who disbelieve the account of Mr Cummings are the ignorant and gullible ones, I've got a (barely used) London Bridge to selll you...
Yup, the "eyesight test" did it for me. I could just about swallow his line of reasoning of wanting to avoid both parents bedridden with a kid left to fend for himself. But the "eyesight" thing was just a straight two-fingers to the plebs. By concocting an outrageous excuse, which of it's own stretches credulity - go for a drive because you have doubts you would be safe on the road, he's just saying, "F.O. you can't touch me."
The lies made about his fortune telling about Coronovirus on his (recently updated) blog should have been enough to get him sacked.
But it is nice to see Boris having to do a bit of work, as I undestand it, since the Covid updated have been going on (the 4-5 o'clock follies) he has given 6 of them, 3 to defend/deflect for Cummings. Sort of shows who's important to our Beloved Leader, and it isn't the great British public.
Alex, in time you may find you were on the wrong side of the argument on this one.
I find it funny that you used the word gullible.
Out of interest, of those labour MPs you mentioned, how many are still in post?
There's been more than 4 Tories that have broken lockdown, the difference between them, the 4 Labour MP's and DC is that only DC was involved in the strategy and policy that he ignored. he's being held to account for his arrogance. Please take off your blue tinted glasses
Everyone who broke the rules (including Labour MP's) can be justifiably criticised but the point with Cummings is that he played a major part in drawing up the rules. He then broke them (for dubious reasons) and has shown no contrition and not apologised. Single handedly his actions led to the breakdown of lock down over the last 10 days - anyone who rides can't fail to have noticed.
I like it. But will drivers get a bit too close in order to be able to read the message?

It’s a good joke and I’m in need of a New Jersey so I might even get one. But to be fair all the opticians are closed due to some overreaction to a mediocre new illness.
I think the joke will have worn thin by mid July.
Good points by about the selling regs.
Well, I for one am disgusted that this company is prolonging this minor incident that everyone has lost interest in and the PM himself has said that it's "time to move on." and draw a line under this. Absolutely everyone else has completely forgotten that contemptible Cummings drove 250 miles to his second home, endangering people, just after the PM had issued strict instructions to stay home if you had symptoms, and definitely not to drive to your second home (which we all have of course). Neither is anyone at all mentioning that Cummings changed his blog to try to make it appear that he forecast the virus last year, no, no, no; this has all been forgotten. And as for this ludicrous incident of a perfectly sensible drive to test your eyesight on his wife's birthday, we'd all have done the same thing wouldn't we?
And anyway, it isn't for us plebs to question the actions of the elite. The rules clearly apply only to the lower classes, not to people like Cummings and Boris' dad, who got a technician to drive 300m to fix his laptop, with his kid in the car because he couldn't get childcare.
My MP won't be forgetting it anyway; he's had more than one email demanding that contemptible be sacked forthwith.
Other tee shirts and beer are available.
From their website, "As this is a custom made item no refunds will be available,..."
Not sure how that squares with Distance Selling regulations. Custom made it is not.
