At road.cc every product is thoroughly tested for as long as it takes to get a proper insight into how well it works. Our reviewers are experienced cyclists that we trust to be objective. While we strive to ensure that opinions expressed are backed up by facts, reviews are by their nature an informed opinion, not a definitive verdict. We don't intentionally try to break anything (except locks) but we do try to look for weak points in any design. The overall score is not just an average of the other scores: it reflects both a product's function and value – with value determined by how a product compares with items of similar spec, quality, and price.

We have had a few items in from Aerozine of late, and following on from them, this chain ring bolt kit comes in an anodised blue to adorn your beloved steed and give it that finishing touch.

Unlike the jockey wheels however, there seems very little actual need to replace the chainring bolts, so a purchase is purely for the two grams of weight you might save and for the fact they are blue. Let's be honest here, you're buying them because they're blue.

Simply remove the standard bolts, maybe use the moment to give the chainrings a deep clean, and refit the rings with these natty blue numbers. Bear in mind that they are aluminium so too much force and you will knack them, so go careful.

They look nice, but that's it, that's all they do. For a penny less than £9 you are paying for a little bit of 90's bling, which if you've already got the jockey wheels, skewers and the headset spacers will look pretty tasty.

Verdict

Little pieces of shiny blue aluminium, nothing to dislike about them

Tell us what the product is for, and who it's aimed at. What do the manufacturers say about it? How does that compare to your own feelings about it?

You thought jockey wheels where the finishing touch? These are truly the finishing touch to your bike! Save a couple of grams of weight and add a touch of bling!

Rate the product for durability:

5/10

Over-tightening will lead to you chewing up the allen-key slot. Beware.

Rate the product for value:

5/10

They don't really do anything of worth, but they also don't really cost very much.

Tell us how the product performed overall when used for its designed purpose

The rings stayed on, the bolts performed flawlessly.

Tell us what you particularly liked about the product

They are blue!

Tell us what you particularly disliked about the product

Prone to chewing up if over tightened.

Did you enjoy using the product? I've spent £9 in a worse manner before.

Would you consider buying the product? Maybe on an impulse, or if i had a full set of blue bits already.

Would you recommend the product to a friend? Unlikely, unless they had a serious thing for blue.

Anything further to say about the product in conclusion?

There's nothing really wrong with them, but they don't really do anything, or even replace anything that's worn out. So really, if you're buying them, then there's nothing left to upgrade on the bike, and it's time to get out and ride some more!

Overall rating: 6/10

Maybe I could get my seamstress to 'button hole' one of my many Rapha garments and adorn the aforementioned garment with these little puppies...not like they'd weigh too much...wonder if they're available in 24k gold... 21
