Polaris Neo-Lite overshoe

Polaris Neo-Lite overshoes are stylish take on the traditional overshoes. Frozen feet can make any ride a misery and once you’ve tried a pair of overshoes you’ll wonder how you ever coped without. But let’s face it: overshoes aren’t the most glamorous piece of kit. They’re usually made from thick neoprene and have all the style of a furry granny boot.

These Neo-Lite overshoes from Polaris buck the trend by being much thinner and more clingy than a normal overshoe. They're similar in construction to the Endura Luminites, and they definitely look less clumpy than a neoprene boot but they perform very well out in the cold and wet.

The polyurethane outer is water resistant and the brushed inner helps to keep you warm, though they can't match the insulation of a really thick pair of neoprene overshoes. They also seem to be impressively windproof as well. In the sub-zero temperatures we’ve been enjoying recently they’ve done a fine job of keeping the chill off my feet, even on long cold descents. They’re easy to get on and off and have a very positive closure from the sturdily constructed snap-lock zip and velcro strap, both of which have a generous covering of reflective material.

There isn’t much to criticise about these overshoes. If you suffer from very cold feet then you might want something a little warmer and the material they are made from is quite thin and looks like it might not be as resistant to tears and abrasions as neoprene over a few winters. Otherwise they’re a fine piece of kit and well worth having in your winter wardrobe.
