At road.cc every product is thoroughly tested for as long as it takes to get a proper insight into how well it works. Our reviewers are experienced cyclists that we trust to be objective. While we strive to ensure that opinions expressed are backed up by facts, reviews are by their nature an informed opinion, not a definitive verdict. We don't intentionally try to break anything (except locks) but we do try to look for weak points in any design. The overall score is not just an average of the other scores: it reflects both a product's function and value – with value determined by how a product compares with items of similar spec, quality, and price.

If you habitually store a bike (or two) outside, then the BTR Waterproof Heavy Duty Bike Cover is just the ticket for keeping your steed out of the elements.

This is a heavy duty cover, make no mistake. It weighs a full 2kg and is constructed from 210 denier polyester fabric. On top of that the internal surface is PVC coated to make it even more waterproof. There are two ringlets at the front to feed a lock through, and two buckles to keep the cover in place if it's windy. When you're not using it you can store it in the supplied bag, made from the same material.

Really, it's designed for one bike but you'll get two under it at a push. BTR's claim that it will "comfortably fit 2 or 3 bicycles" is a bit of a stretch. I couldn't get three under it in any meaningful way. Two was okay, but the buckles wouldn't reach.

I've had this outside for a couple of months and it's well up to the job. It's completely waterproof, with water pooling on the top in heavy rain but never making it through. There's an internal coating which is starting to crack and peel a bit, but it hasn't affected the waterproofing – it's still completely watertight.

In heavy weather the buckles are really useful for not losing it over the next-door-neighbour's fence...

Overall, this BTR cover is a really good option if your only storage option is an outside one. It's built to last and will keep even the worst of the weather off.

Verdict

A really good waterproof cover for day-to-day outside storage

Tell us what the product is for, and who it's aimed at. What do the manufacturers say about it? How does that compare to your own feelings about it?

BTR says:

VERY large and VERY Thick waterproof bike cover. This bike cover will fit almost any bike frame. It is also suitable for most scooters. Will comfortably fit 2 or 3 bicycles depending whether kids / adults etc

This bicycle cover is made from high quality 210D Polyester Oxford Material with PVC lining (350 GSM). It outperforms nylon as it won't stretch if pooled with water. It is really tough and durable. The 350 GSM really is extremeley tough and durable and weighs in at nearly 2KG

Double stitched for extra durability and the stitches also have waterproof lining along the inside to protect your bike from the elements

Extremely durable and waterproof bike covers and superior to most available.

Two buckles at the foot of the cover (front & Rear) help keep the cover in place in windy conditions. Both ends of the cover have some elastic to help fit around the wheels. Ringlets at the front for use with a chain lock
