Campagnolo EPS V3 electronic groupset goes wireless. Sort of...

Campagnolo continues to tinker with its Record and Super Record EPS electronic groupsets, and the latest revision (V3) introduces a new DTI interface unit which is more aerodynamic and has a charging port and LED battery indicators.

The new control box is smoother and rounder than the previous version, and should sit better on the stem. The addition of a charging port (like Shimano’s Di2) will enable easier battery charging and the LEDs will indicate when the battery needs charging.

That’s not all. The update now includes built-in wireless connectivity, both ANT+ and Bluetooth, which allows the groupset to be synced to a compatible computer, tablet or smartphone.

This allows the gears to be adjusted or customised using Campagnolo’s new MyCampy app, available on iPhone and Android phones. It’s a free download. You can also change what the different shift buttons do, much like Shimano Di2, so if you aren’t happy with the default setup, you can customise to suit.

The other update to EPS is the launch of a new battery, which it calls the  Power Unit. It’s now a slim cylinder shape so it’ll be easier to fit to modern frames, particularly aero road bikes with slim tube shapes and little space inside for Campagnolo’s previous battery. It’s also fit inside a seatpost. The new battery maintains the same key features as the previous version, such as vibration absorbing outer material and ultrasonic seals to ensure it’s completely waterproof.
