Sportswear giant adidas is on a comeback in the cycling market at the moment, and has today launched its new Rompighiaccio jacket.
Apart from the hard to pronounce name (which is the Italian meaning for icebreaker ship) this new jacket is made with the company’s own Climaheat material, which consists of hollow fibre fabrics that are said to trap warm air without the bulk of other materials.

Climaheat is a lightweight material that is claimed to provide high levels of warmth, making it ideal for training on cold and dry days. It’s highly breathable too, according to the company, which makes it ideal for fast-paced training rides when you need to balance the demands of keeping warm with ensuring sweat can escape.
The jacket has additional features, alongside the Climaheat fabric, designed to trap the warmth. There’s a tall collar to wrap closely around the neck and a CuffinCuff detail at the end of the sleeves is meant to form a close seal around the wrist. Other details include a silicone lined waistband, three rear pockets and lots of reflective accents.
adidas also offers the Rompighiaccio Jersey which swaps the Climaheat for a Carvico Vuelta fabric, with a brushed-back construction, that is better suited to warm days, cool spring mornings for example. Like the jacket, it has a full-length zipper, tall collar and lots of reflective details. It’s available in three colours.

The jacket and jersey can be paired with matching Rompighiaccio bib tights. They’re made from Climaproof fabric with a DWR treatment on the front of the legs to ward off rain and road spray. Inside is the company’s own Endurace 2 Men Pad for seated comfort, made by Elastic Interface Technology.
Prices for the clothing, which is available now, is as follows:
- adidas Rompighiaccio Jacket - £85.00
- adidas Rompighiaccio Jersey - £80.00
- adidas Supernova Proficio Padded Bib Tights - £85.00
