Heavy metal? Slayer and Rammstein launch bikes +Video
Metal bands Slayer and Rammstein have both launched their own bike designs. Straight up! We're not sure whether this is the start of something big or just a strange coincidence.
Slayer has teamed up with US BMX brand Subrosa to offer a six item range: a 12in balance bike, a 20in BMX, a 26in BMX, a 700c cromo urban bike, a BMX frame and a saddle.
“We wanted to create bikes that BMX riders could use and abuse, and we had to do justice to Slayer and their fans by creating a look that would represent their brand, and stand out from anything we’ve done before,” said Subrosa brand manager, Ryan Sher.
Prices on the Slayer x Subrosa range have yet to be released.
Meanwhile, Neue Deutsche Harte band Rammstein is offering a singlespeed, designed and built in collaboration with Berlin’s Schindelhauerbikes, a brand that we covered on road.cc a couple of years ago when it launched a Berlin Bike Show version its Thinbike. Like that bike, the Rammstein model is a limited edition - check it out in the not over that top at all vid above.
It is built around a triple butted 6061-T6 aluminium frame and uses a Gates Carbon Drive belt system rather than a chain.
The head tube is milled with a Rammstein logo and there are black reflective Rammstein logos on the down tube.

We’re struggling to think of other bands that have launched cycle related stuff. Carter the Unstoppable Sex Machine released a jersey and cap with Militag a couple of years ago, and Talking Heads’ frontman David Byrne published his Bicycle Diaries book.
Of course, German electronic band Kraftwerk has a long-standing love affair with cycling.

I tried, but the best I could come up with were Racer X, (UCI) Rainbow (stripes), King Diamond(back) and Turin (disc-)Brakes.
