Brompton, the London-based folding bike company, has announced the launch of a new Explore edition that includes a 28L roll-top bag, an enhanced spares pouch and lower ratio 6-speed gearing.
Brompton says that its design and product teams set out to create a bike that was purpose-built for adventure. The new bike features a 6-speed groupset with reduced gearing to allow riders to tackle challenging terrain and deal with increased kit weight.
"Including a custom 28L roll top bag and special edition spares pouch, the Brompton Explore is loaded with essential accessories, to ensure you have everything you need to keep your adventure on track," says Brompton.
"All of this is finished in earthy hues inspired by the landscape, tan wall tyres and a Brooks Cambium C17 All Weather Saddle to offer both function and form."
The Brompton Explore is available with an M or H Type handlebar and is fitted with Marathon Racer Tanwall folding tyres. The soft compound of the gum rubber grips is designed to increase comfort.
The roll top Explore bag comes in a custom camouflage fabric with an integral water bottle sleeve.
It comes with an Explore pouch with spares and accessories, such as inner tubes, spokes, replacement cables and brake pads, a pump and a folding tyre.
The new Brompton Explore edition retails from £1,525.

Let's see, I've bought a Borough Bag (basically the explorer bag in a different colour with some insignificant details changed) for my S6R which cost me £998, personally like S bars with bar ends better than M or H, and already have all the same sort or spares I might need in a saddle pouch. So I've got a better spec'd touring Brompton (has a rack and mudguards and dynamo lights) minus a fancy paint job and tan wall tyres (might add those when time comes to replace the current marathon racers) and close to £400 more in my bank balance!
Me: I think we have reached peak gravel/bike packing.
Brompton: Hold my craft beer!
