I am definitely more afraid of poor air quality when I cycle next to "eco" huge diesel SUVs rather than them actually hitting me. I do have to mention that I also faced a very significant loss in smell after a couple of years as an urban cyclist, so I don't think I am a weirdo.
Poor air quality slowly and silently takes much more cyclist lifes than cars. Yes, electric cars may be very dubious in their life cycle ecofriendliness, but their benefit in improving air quality where it matters most, is indisputable.
"Are you interested in the air quality of the routes you cycle? Would you like to know the impact on your health of riding in these areas with higher pollution and worse air quality? Let us know in the comments below."
I'm actually more concerned about the air quality inside the office that I have to spend the following 8 hours in. And as this app will poiny out, opening the window is less likely to be the solution.
It does look a useful app though and air quality is a huge problem at the moment, both indoor and outdoor.
