Yeah sounds good. I am going to be out doing the long 100km+ rides with badtri on a saturday morning...just gives me enough time for a costa hot chocolate and a slice of cake before joining up with you guys...lovely way to spent a saturday.
As for coed-y-benin, My dad and I used to go over there for a few days every summer...living in Shropshire means its only a 90minute drive. I loved the red bull and karrimor routes, was always shocked by the recklessness of my dad, legendary!
yeah i always enjoyed a bit of getting muddy, my last serious mtb'ing was 5 days in Coed-y-Brenin before the onset of parenthood..it was fun.
btw Jon i'm out on the road bike sat. afternoons throughout the colder months for a couple of hours (30/40 miles), normally get going round 2.30 ish if you ever fancy joining me/us (sometimes one or two others)..and anyone else for that matter...
I think my Pace RC200 rigid single-speed is going to see some action this winter, it's been a long time since I hit the trails.
likewise! I was out riding through ashton court yesterday morning, doing a few hill rep sprints in the rain. Loads of mtb'ers out, looked fun!
yeah for sure, cant say when, probably in a few weeks, hopefully..
Fringe, fancy having a thrash around the trails up at Ashton Court when you do? I am in the market for an old school mtb (scott endorphin or cannondale raven...reminds me of being a teenager!)
don't really get on with rollers/turbo trainers myself, prefer to get out for a 20/30 min run twice a week..and a ride at the weekends, mind you when i sort out a cross bike im gonna ride the mtb routes round these parts of an evening..
When I used to mountain bike, I had a pact with myself that I would ride on set days for particular times or distances, and that I would only look outside just before I left, at the weather, purely to decide what to wear. I did at least 4 winters that way, I rode as much as in summer, just got a lot dirtier.
Road biking is just not the same for me, it's not that I don't like getting wet, it just sucks the joy out of it when you can't see where your going, cornering has to be done much more sensibly, and cars seem to want to kill you just that little bit more for some reason.
I therefore ride when the weather is suitable outdoors, and if not it's turbo time! I actually don't mind the turbo, and have some good rollers as well as the Tacx Fortius to allow me some good indoor workouts. I think I'm going to get the new Ergo Video training with the Schlecks, that should cause some good winter pain and suffering.
