Anyone got an Exposure Tracer rear light (the usb rechargeable one)?

I second (third?) the exposure customer care brilliance.
I had to get in touch recently and they sorted my stuff out same day, couldn't have been happier.
When the time comes to replace my Toro, it'll only for another exposure.

Exposure customer service is first class. If you have any trouble with their equipment they will sort it for you. I have had out of warranty kit repaired at a very low cost and spare seals for rear lights sent as a good will gesture. I rate the company and their kit very highly.

I have just bought one and there is a warning in the packaging clearly stating that something like "petroleum jelly" should be used to help seal the USB covering. I seem to remember some customer reviews last winter on Wiggle or similar commenting on water getting in. The warning notice is a completly seperate large print large piece of paper for this only and the actual light has caution signs around the USB socket too.. So anyone not paying attention and getting water damage.. well they tried to tell you. Ok I'm off to buy a small pot of Vaseline now.. another thing for the bike maintnence collection.

I've owned one over a winter/spring/summer of commuting 2/3 times a week and weekend runs. Live in Cambs, so weather isn't particularly bad, but its seen its fair share of crud, as I haven't been using mudguards this year. After bad experiences with the Flare and its design, I've been more diligent keeping the rubber port plug sealed up with vaseline, and drying it out after wet rides etc. Its a great little light, very bright (if you want to you can turn it down to lower intensity/longer burn). I have no concerns over it falling out/off, its very secure. I think it would take a pothole of at least wheel damaging proportions to dislodge it. I would recommend it to a friend.

mine's been perfect over 1 winter and some sh1t3 weather rides, but I too
have full guards. the standard mount "could" lose the light but I use one for
the flare that sits on the saddle rails and the rubber strap goes over the light
as well so doubly secure.

A small dab of vaseline around the usb port stops any ingress and just in case
I always make sure the port faces down so any water will drain out anyway !

They're cracking. Seriously bright and as its sealed, I don't envisage having any problems at all. I've had it across one winter already - although I am a sensible type with mudguards on my oh so practical winter bike, so it doesn't get too coated in shit.

I would urge you to go for something brighter than a cheapo, exposure warranties are brill, so they must be confident in its durability, and I've had plenty of comments about how fantastically visible it is from quite a distance.

The Flare (cheaper version) is the one people had issues with for a while, as it had a removable battery with a screw-on front/twist switch - which meant it filled with salt and water very quickly.

A friend of mine had one and returned it to the shop after 6 months.

Water got in around the seals and it started turning itself off mid ride.

I really, really, rate exposure kit but this isn't one of their best.

I have a smart lunar that I bought for about £10, it's bright enough and has lasted thru two winters. A bit of light grease on the joining gasket has kept it totally dry. I also run a secondary rear light for that day when one runs out of battery.

I've got one and I love it! Not ridden it through too much rubbish yet but so far so very good!
