been doing some more reading, is the fork material more important than the frame material for giving a more comfortable ride or do both play an equal part?
The tyre size, type and pressure are more important than either of them. Frames only deform vertically by mm at the most so don't get hung up the idea of magical metals.
man, your killing my dream of building (yet another) bike!
point taken though, ive only had one steel bike which was an old peugeot racer which was stolen, im sure it was faster than my pilot too.
Ill keep the Ribble bike in mind but try a 25mm tyre instead of my 23 to start with
Does anyone still make a steel frame with a steel fork?
Both those look good i had looked at the planet x one recently but it would mean getting new wheels as its disc specific.
Hmm, perhaps Ill wait till these rims are worn down then get the kaffenbach and some new wheels.
Or how about the Genesis Tour De Fer for £350

Even cheaper - Ribble Audax 525 is only £175 for the frame
hmm thanks id forgotten about ribble bikes
The spacycles frame is good. Also, Cotic Escapade.
Planet X kaffenback might be worth a look. Steel, robust, takes guards and disc brakes.
