Especially a Starbucks. Jesus. Makes the whole thing even worse!

Sorry for your loss though, I hope it was at least insured correctly.

The only time I've had my bike nicked was when I was ten years old and had popped into my LBS for a lock - unfortunately I lingered too long over the handlebar tape and shiny stuff. 20 That day I learned the meaning of irony and time management. Two years later I saw a kid riding it, stopped him , told my dad, went to the police station and, despite the frame number matching the theft report (not to mention the mudguards having been crudely painted to conceal my customising stickers), the policeman believed the kids parent that he had bought it legitimately. Copper said bike was too small for me anyway, dad agreed and the kid rode off into the sunset. 14
As you may gather this experience has led to a lifelong mistrust of the rozzers and serious emotional scarring in the parent department!!!! Anyway, at the age of twelve, I gave up cycling and concentrated on girls 3 ; I soon came to realise that a trustworthy bike was hard to find and returned to cycling with renewed enthusiasm! 1 1 1

I'm at a loss to understand the attraction of coffee that makes you leave your bike outside the shop for 15 minutes 'many times'.

No one deserves to get their bike stolen, but that was a when not an if...

I was very silly, propped it up against the door of Starbucks, popped in for a coffee as I've done many times......large queue, stood there for 10-15 mins waiting which is just about enough time for thieves to get organised I guess. Couldnt have taken my eye off it for more than 30 seconds......gone.

Just a general tip for strava users, make sure you set a privacy cordon around your address and even then I stop the Garmin a few 100m away from home just to make sure, otherwise theiving scumbags can find your exact house and pay your shed a visit in the middle of the night 14
