I'm loving a bit of jazz at the mo - Billie Holiday and Chet Baker are the true classics.
Joe Strummer and the Mescaleros Global a Go Go brilliant and the sublime darkness that is My Dying Bride's Songs of Darkness Words of Light.
Christy Moore - went to London Town to see him last Saturday. Also a lot of US alt country stuff, Ryan Adams. Whiskeytown, Josh Rouse, Pernice Bros, Remy Zero, Clem Snide etc.
Great not being at work but minor injury means I have even more time at home.
A late evening dedicated to Robert Plant on BBC2 tomorrow (Saturday) including the Electric Prom from last week.
a bit of robert plant though Ive been recording my own stuff (no plug intended - it isnt for sale, just a hobby)
I've been mostly listening to the Jim Bryson and the Weakerthans collaberation cd 'The Falcon Lake Incident', which is very very good. If you didn't know already, The Weakerthans are fronted by John K Sampson, previously of punk band Propagandhi, but now he plays folk rock. Check them out here:
JIM BRYSON & THE WEAKERTHANS - Freeways in the Frontyard from Mitch Fillion (southernsouls.ca) on Vimeo.
and here for samples on amazon:

And also the mighty !!!, this being their latest video:
!!! - Jamie My Intentions Are Bass from Warp Records on Vimeo.
Led Zep - loud on the way to the Endura at Sherwood Pines last Sunday. I always think a bit of rock puts you in the mood for mtb and maybe Neil Young for road riding.
Thanks demoff, suggestion noted.
Simon E if you have not heard Joe Bonamassa strongly recommend him he will fit in right next to Jeff Healey.
Sloe Gin is a good album to start.
^ Glutton for punishment, F&C, you're a braver man than me.
Before the power cut stopped me in my tracks last night I was once again dipping into my the RealPlayer stuff saved on my PC - Back in Black era AC/DC, Soweto String Quartet's Mbube and, scoring a perfect 10 every time, Jeff Healey's version of While My Guitar Gently Weeps.
Looking at the above perhaps I ought to check Last.fm and try something new.
I feel sick after watching Celine Dion perform AC/DC's shook me all night long...it was so hideous that no matter how much I hate you all I could not post it on here
F&C these things have to be done
Lots of Motorhead this week, going to see them next month in Wolves. With a smattering of Joe Bonamassa and some Punk/New Wave in the mix as well.
Driving home from work - traffic jam so I put the radio on for relaxing music as I was running late...
On Radio: "I don't want to live forever..."
Headbanging in traffic jam!
Monday I had some Maria Callas on as background, Tuesday's Eurostar to Paris accompanied by a French rap compilation (Patrimoine du Ghetto) to get me in suitable mood for the media-predicted burning cars and rioters - not that there was any sign of that on the Champs Elysees - and yesterday had 1980s mixtape on the TV which promptly got switched over the second the missus came home. In more of an old school punk mood today...
According to Last.fm the artists I've listened to most over the last week have been Darkstar, Eels, Forest Fire, Arcade Fire and Four Tet, all of which are utterly splendid in their different ways. I recommend the new Darkstar album North to anyone who isn't instantly turned off by the expression melancholy synth pop.
Good old 'Cumbersome, Fake and Trauma', yep got them too, except they're mostly vinyl and still in pretty good condition. Must get round to putting some of them on.
This weekend plan to transfer the Who and something more modern, Nirvana and Foo Fighters, to the phone to give some variety. Also just downloaded the last Peter Gabriel which is sounding pretty good, or most of it anyway.
Heh, just saw that bit of Creedence Clearwater Revival up there Fish 'n' Chips… what about Fortunate son? … Okay, I've just scrolled up
I like my classical, and am enjoying some Donizetti: http://open.spotify.com/artist/50CiONIVAWMqgkPLWzjwJS
("Amici mei" from 'La fille du regiment' ...)
thanks to the joy of technology you can all listen to bristols finest 'The Heads' live in leeds..(well i like it anyway).
Hairy Chapter Live by Johnnyorocket
Bellowhead's new CD Hedonism, Calan (young folk group) and the Real Pellyton podcast.
All distinctly unfashionable
oh and the new Black Keys l.p. 'Brother'
King Crimson eh jova, robert fripps west country burr is about the only thing i can listen too now as regards them, and while were on the subject i got a copy of ELP's brain salad surgery for 10p the other week, not the best 10p ive spent to be honest..
New Robert Plant, Band of Joy, and having just loaded a load of stuff from iTunes onto my Android phone digging back through my Prog Rock years with Genesis and King Crimson.
Listening to all sorts but want to buy Suede tickets as I never got round to seeing them due to Uni exams many eons ago.
Loving that link Tony!
new Black Mountain l.p. 'wilderness heart', doesn't quite have that progrock edge that the last two did, but still good, just more 'pop'. o and the millionenth AMT release, 'from o to infinity'.
a strange selection on my mp3 player this week including...
Pet shop boys live from glastonbury
Deep House remixes of feede le grand and Armand Van Helden
acoustic piano versions of some linkin park stuff
Paolo Nutini live
Prodigy
Mate just leant me Paul Weller's 22 dreams - went off him in a big way after the Style Council, really can't stand all that "Mod Father" stuff… it's just so un-mod.
Also probably going to be hearing a fair amount of Rilo Kiley cos my elder daughter won't plug her headphones in when she's on the computer.
And this…
