Try watching the screen with the sound on mute and make up your own commentary
Poor show for ITV on the last stage though... cutting out before the Schlecks were even on the podium and before the anthems.
Slightly crap as Eurosport might be they do at least show it pretty much wall to wall.
I think your all being mean ! well thats what my laddie says when he doesn't get his own way.
Honestly though i have watched the tour for over 15 years and whilst they do get stuff wrong it's been those gaffs that make you come back for more. It's never an easy thing to do commentate live but when they make predictions it's purely their choice and if they get it wrong so be it, just look at everyones decisions on this forum, have we all been right everytime !
ITV have their moments as well.
I don't know if it was Phil or Paul but I wanted to throw something at the screen when the said Greipel's stage win had 'put Omega Pharma Lotto on the racing map'.
I don't doubt that it is bloody difficult to fill all that time, and in general I prefer ITV's coverage because of the other stuff - the inserts and background items.
But at least in the old days with Duffers there was no pretence about it being four hours of gripping commentary. That was the brilliance - we all knew that discussion of what David had for dinner in a little village 5 years ago was frequently just as relevant as what was happening on screen so there was no need to keep banging on about it.
What it needs IMHO is Test Match Velo Special.
Prefer Phil and Paul, have enjoyed the commentary and history lessons. Has been a gripping tour and Cadel has finally nailed it!!
agreed ive watched the entire coverage on ITV4 as opposed to eurosport HD as the commentary really is terrible .. its a shame they dont cover the other tours as ill be back on bore-osport after today
I have watched every minute of Eurosports coverage this year and to be honest its amateurish to say the least...
Forever getting riders wrong, for such experienced`bike` people tactically naive predictions, and the endless giggling at each other over un-funny things has had me cringing...
The stage when they called Goss as the winner when it was oh so obvious that it was The Manx Missile, just about summed them up...
Get back on yer bikes boys and put the mikes down....
The quality has been shocking, considering they get the same live feed in HD that i'm sitting watching, they also have the start list numbers of the riders and still get it wrong
I'm sitting there everyday telling them to wise it as they tell me so and so is in the break, when they are clearly not
The only decent thing is they are just a tad better than ITV4
I would prefer them to get rid of certain members of the team tho, Sean Kelly, just STFU
I agree mate, they need to up there game massively!
Personally i think they have been cracking ! After all they have to waffle on for hours on end when basically all thats happening on the screen is a steady line of blokes riding bikes.
