Guardini
Have one transfer left and very itchy fingers, just don't know who to replace with who.
Options are ditching Guardini or Lancaster for someone like Battaglin of Felline but I'm not confident that'll pay off, otherwise picking up Gatto, J-Rod or Ballan for Cav or Thomas might work out. I just don't know what to do!
On that basis I think I'll leave it and have 3 tomorrow, it'll reduce my score today but hopefully not by too much seeing as whoever I pick up would be a shot in the dark anyway.
Ive not gone for J-Rod today, the finish is too flat and will be too many other riders at the finsih (maybe for tomorrow)
Ive bought in Gasparotto, Hesjedal and Vicioso
Left Goss as he was the best option to leave in out of him, Demare and Cav....so my team (could go well today)
Goss
Hesjedal
Gasparotto
Visconti
Kristoff
Meersman
Ullisi
Navadauskas
Vicioso
Replaced Mark Cavendish with Joaquin Rodriguez
Replaced Daniele Bennati with Ryder Hesjedal
Replaced Juan Jose Haedo with Enrico Gasparotto
Replaced Arnaud Demare with Emanuele Sella
So my team
Enrico Gasparotto (AST) most likely to attack the Montegranaro wall
Joaquin Rodriguez (KAT) 2nd most likely to attack on the Montegranaro wall
Ryder Hesjedal (GRM) will/can follow the attack on the Montegranaro wall
Matthew Goss (GRE) if he gets over the the Montegranaro wall in leading group will win. Replace tomorrow with little prince or another climber who shows their stuff today.
Enrico Battaglin (COG) this is his terrain, hopefully
Ramunas Navardauskas (GRM) might get lucky and stay in white
Alexander Kristoff (KAT) stage 6 Paris Nice, will probably transfer out tomorrow, it is Kristoff or the honey badger
Alfredo Balloni (FAR) to defend his KOM jersey in breakaway
Emanuele Sella (AND) possible KOM material, brought in for stage 7 and beyond
People still have quite some confidence in Hushovd, I see. Why, after he got dropped yesterday on smaller colli than today's? I think of the sprinters only Bennati, Goss and Vicioso stand a chance of sticking to the main group. It be Felline's day!
The reason i went with Hushovd is simple. He sat up very early and didn't bother to try and stay in the pack yesterday. Which normally signals he's going to try something the next day.
I see a few going for J-Rod, i think its a bit early for him.
Yeah....he decided to abandon today!
Great weather today, felt like a Pro for 5mins in the sun streaming though the Usk Valley.
Went for J-Rod too although to be honest I think tomorrow's stage 7 is the one absolutely tailor-made for him.It was him or Hesjedal to come in for Cav and with Navardauskas and Hunter from garmin already in it had to be 'Purito'.
J-Rod
Thomas
Hunter
Pinotti
Navardauskas
Kristoff
Balloni
Boaro
Guardini
Hard to call this one today, so Jrod to be inside top 10 with goss.I will be more than happy
Joaquin Rodriguez (KAT)
Matthew Goss (GRE)
Juan Antonio Flecha (SKY)
Oscar Gatto (FAR)
Ramunas Navardauskas (GRM)
Alfredo Balloni (FAR)
Arnaud Demare (FDJ)
Alexander Kristoff (KAT)
Sandy Casar (FDJ)
Gatto 3rd at bianche so hopefully form will show
Meersman is a bit of a mystery, he's in good form but going really badly so far this week. Is it because he's not 100% or is he building up a deficit to go for a big breakaway win?
Transfers done, with my two transfers for tomorrow planned as well. The only problem I know have its my team is not geared to bring in a big sprinter for any sprint stages
Made a big change for today and put in J-Rod so it means i dont have to work at getting him in later. My team for todays stage:
Marco Pinotti (BMC)
Joaquin Rodriguez (KAT)
Geraint Thomas (SKY)
Enrico Gasparotto (AST)
Arnaud Demare (FDJ)
Ramunas Navardauskas (GRM)
Manuele Boaro (SAX)
Domenico Pozzovivo (COG)
Jack Bauer (GRM)
Still got a couple of sprinters in just in case its an easier than expected climb.
It could be a very good day for riders like Visconti, Pozzato, Gasparotto, Lastras but also a bit risky because these riders are not the most appropiate for Saturday and Sunday stages and there are only 2 changes...
Ok, I just hope Cav, GT and Bennati do not make it over the climbs with the leaders
39 May 11, 04:52 Giovanni Visconti in for Geraint Thomas
39 May 11, 04:52 Filippo Pozzato in for Mark Cavendish
39 May 11, 04:50 Dennis Vanendert in for Alex Rasmussen
39 May 11, 04:50 Thor Hushovd in for Daniele Bennati
If you thought Thursday was chaotic inside the last 20km, it will have nothing on today, short 18% climb up a narrow street will sort out a few more contenders.
The only flat bit today is the finish, expect early breakaway, sprinters getting spat out the back and forming an autobus, the main peleton catching the breakaway with 25kms to go, all hell breaking lose as they hit that climb, with some GC riders like JRod trying to make a bit more time and anywhere from 1 to 20 sprinting for down the last 1.5km of boulevard for the line.
Looking at using at least 3 or my 4 transfers today, the next sprinters stage is the downhill stage 9, followed by a MSR like stage 11 (flat stage with climb 11km from finish). Stage 10 has a picturesque TA type finish, (ie steep narrow streets).
With 131 points today I am drafting in :
Ryder Hesjedal (GRM)
Enrico Gasparotto (AST)
Nelson Oliveira (RSN)
Might consider Basso next stage, will see how it pans out.
Breakaway in my head, but keeping Goss for the possibility of sprint finish...
Cheers for telling everyone my team
My head says its a breakaway day, and since Bak seems to have taken Casars thunder, I put in Hushovd, and the ARs are starting to go in.
cal me clueles also
flippin clueless for transfers! Few big names got alot of time to make up ie; gadret over 2 half mins down!! may go for 1 or 2 AR and save transfers
Have to admit I don't have a clue! Just hope Farrar and Hushovd are rested after coming in as fast as I commute through town. Only got 2 transfers so will have to make a couple of inspired guesses.
