Tour of Poland

Starts on Tuesday - Profile looks not a million miles away from Tour of California minus TT (first 4 stages could all be sprint finishes but a couple do have hills, 5 is craggy, 6 is a brute, 7 short and flat). I just picked my team and had 43.4 credits left over! Who's going for this? Or is it just an unwelcome distraction?

Hmm, maybe I've underestimated a couple of these stages - oh well, I'm sticking with it. Will have a good team for stage 2 if nothing else!

Is Szmyd coming home from France then? If my psychic powers were that good, I wouldn't be so consistently behind you in the West Mids overall (for two years) 2

Stage 1 - lumpy with last 1km at 2.5% uphill

Stage 2,4,7 - flat

Stage 3 - 2 climbs (actually 1 repeated - looks like cat ears on the profile) then 3.5 100 vert meter (max 13.5%) lumps in a crit. Uphill finish (500m at 4.6%)

Stage 5 - nasty. first cat and second cat climbed 3 times. last 1km at 3.1%

Stage 6 - worse. 2 cat 1's and an evil looking uncategorised climb repeated 5 times. Last 3km - 1km at 8.1% (max 11.5%) then 1km at 2.6% finishing with 1km at 3.6%

This is mostly for my benefit but maybe someone else will find it useful. I'm a bit stuck for who should be in my team at the moment.

I'm thinking along the lines of:

Gasparotto
Uran
Teklehaymanot
Arroyo
Tiralongo
Dekker
Gerdemann
+ 2 Polish guys.

Boonen/Haussler/Degenkolb/Swift for the sprint stages?

Anyone know who the best Polish Climber is? Restricted to WIKI research I'm afraid on this one!!

Szmyd? Niemiec? cqranking.com is the place for this sort of info.

Picking the hometown DS' who go on the breaks will decide it for sure.

yeah, get the guys in that break and you've probably won the tour 4

stage 6 looks genuinely awful, there's not a metre of flat road in it judging by the profile. just those two categorised hills five times each plus another one that's not categorised, five times. fifteen climbs of 200-400m a pop.

I think it's probably an unwelcome distraction and takes away from the TdF which should be the main focus of the fantasy comp.

I didn't really enjoy the ToC because I was still competing in the Giro but I guess if the TdF is a write off for you then the ToP could be fun. Personally my ToP team will be thrown together at the last minute and will be considerably less well planned than my TdF team.

Thanks

There's going to be a lot of shelling out the back I guess on those days.

I'm still deciding upon a team but have a rough team in my head. Am I right in thinking they are a climbing the same cat 1 mountain 4 times on stage 1?
