My only experience with Gators' was a sidewall puncture after about 70 miles. Bogus.
ultragators in 25mm format ....
1 puncture in 3 winters and about 3000 miles
Gatorskins here no doubt ..
I brought a set a few years back when commuting heavily ...
I couldnae believe it when I punctured with 3 days but I never had another puncture in over two years ... on pretty rough n ropey routes.. (Inner city Wolverhampton - Not nice)
They're still on my commuter now, that bike is rarely used these days though ..
I run a pair of 25s or a 23 on the front and a 25 on the back. I carry a pannier for my commute hence the 25 to try to protect the rear wheel.
Conti Gatorskins are the way to go. I never get a puncture with them.
Continental 4 Seasons.
Great in the wet and very robust.
Thats what I have been looking at! What size do you run/recommend?
I run 25mm Conti 4 Seasons all year round. They might seem expensive at first, but I got 5 years / 3500 miles out of the rear one, and the front is still OK (now on the back and a new one on the front)
I use Conti Gatorskins. Touch wood and famous last words, but they have been the best puncture protection I have found and decent wet grip. The only downside is that they don't roll that well - I reckon they are between 5 and 10s a km slower than my summer tyres.
Would be interested to hear other peoples thoughts though.
