Simon Barnes in The Times the other day put it well. In the last two years England have gone from the depths of despair to Gloatsville without stopping at reality check.
They are a decent team and conditions in SA will help them. Can they hold the ball well enough against the very best though?
Personally, I was in a Dublin pubs last weekend cheering on the Republic against Cyprus - the dream is still on.
It was impressive, I still find it strange that England caps can just be handed out for the sake of it in the case of Beckham though...surely bringing on someone young, exciting, a prospect for the future such as Ashley young (i know he wasnt a sub last night) would be more sensible.
we're gonna win for sure, especially if portugal don't make the grade
seriously though, good performance last night. even carthorse heskey did okay, except for those two glaring misses
