All Along for the ride with David Odoherty

so anyone catch any of these in the end ? its still on catchup C4 tv if you missed it, I only watched the Suffolk episode out of pure local interest, and recognised alot of roads I do ride on which was nice to see, I was a bit a worried when they hit the A12 though, which didnt make much sense given where they started from, but it wasnt put together in sequence as much of a joined up route I think.

But its what I thought the show might be, which is basically just two comedians riffing off each other travelling slowly with countryside as the backdrop, it wasnt anything to do with cycling really or cycling a route, it was barely even a travelogue on bikes as they didnt bother to ever really explain where they were, or what was significant about where they were, or looking at, and missed some very obvious local points of interest they could totally have made more jokes about, so it was just a means to an end to provide chat between them for an hour of television, I saw one of the newspaper reviews said they could have just shown them having a zoom call together and it would have had the same appeal.

all I would say is in summary, yes there are onion trucks in Suffolk, but as good as it is in the summer around here, its not perpetually stuck in the golden hour kind of light all day.

I enjoyed all of the episodes - some more than others - and while each of us could doubtless come up with a way of improving every one I think the effect was overwhelming positive.  It was great to see an absence of Lycra and closes passes and any negativity, instead the joy of countryside and company.  I look forward to series two.

Generally cringe worthy, with the exception of the Grayson Perry episode.   The one from Suffolk was very poor.

A shame,I like O' Docherty and he is obviously an enthusiastic cyclist.

Totally Disagree.

The Suffolk one was Wonderful. Showed Suffolk in a beautiful light. I live in Beccles and it highlighted many roads im very familiar with.

David and Joe have a genuine friendship and it showed.

And as much as i like Grayson, his laugh was fucking annoying after a while!

I thought it showed the Suffolk countryside very well, golden fields and winding roads all at a peaceful pace without the seeming hustle of city life getting in the way, though I think they overdid the golden hour filters a bit.

but whilst David and Joe clearly are good friends and can talk for hours, I just couldnt get beyond whats the point to this, because they werent explaining any of it really or discovering anything or showing anything, we are lucky being local that we recognise the roads they used so it gave us the commentary that was missing, but anyone not local would be totally bored as they ride down yet another dusty country lane seemingly with no purpose to it.
