Car crashed into war memorial
An occasional route of mine is past the church at West Wellow where Florence Nighingale is buried - I stopped there this week, noticing this memorial stone on the grass bank leading up to the church.
I haven't quite managed to piece this one together from online sources.
The church is a peaceful spot up a track off a narrow country road - I don't think whatever happened in 1984 happened here as the memorial is shown on the 1950s map in its current location (and not at the church) - see NLS link. The warmemorialsonline site seems to be saying that the church was the original site, though. Can't quite reconcile that with the wording atop the old plaque in the picture. Most online information about the church focuses on the Florence Nightingale aspect.
The Hampshiresarmemorials image shows it much closer to the road than now and the Wiltshire OPC account talks it being moved, maybe moved back a few feet, in 2007. Anyway, cars.

Going a bit off-topic here:
https://www.yahoo.com/news/train-crashes-falls-homes-garage-214700501.html
The CSX locomotive reportedly jumped the rail at about 8:15 a.m. Monday, striking a garage behind the home located at 3272 Seneca Ave. Emergency response crews from CSX, the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation and the Niagara Falls police and fire departments remained on the scene throughout the day as they worked to remove the train engine and to clean up diesel fuel that spilled onto the property and into the nearby street.
It's not the first time the same property was involved in a similar situation. In the 1970s, a train hit the garage behind the same house.

I can't read this article - sounds like one for CCIB?
This is a shitty one.
https://news.sky.com/story/driver-jailed-over-92mph-crash-which-sent-ped...
He lost control of the vehicle as he entered a left-hand bend and smashed through the wall of Gliece Rodrigues Pires's house - where six other people were at the time.
He hit Ahmed Moneer, 37, who was walking along the pavement, throwing him through the wall of a nearby house - in front of a shocked family. Mr Moneer died instantly.
Xhaferri was jailed for 10 years and six months for causing death by dangerous driving and three years and three months for causing serious injury, with the sentences to be served concurrently.
He was also banned from driving for 12 years and 11 months.
Flying car circled - no prizes for the end result. Ped unharmed.

Welcome to Car Crashes into Building.
Remember to keep your lorry's water bowl topped up in hot weather - they get very thirsty
Sounds like the bollard wasn't up to the task. Stronger ones are available.
Seen from further back on Google - quite the distance they've managed to cover from the parking area.
Thanks, drivers.
Let me guess - "I mixed up the accelerator and the brake! I mixed up first gear and reverse!"
More thirsty vehicles.
Something there is that doesn't love a wall...
He sliced through the front of the house, including through the bus stop. Could have been a lot worse.

Dammit! I just logged in so I could post that story
I would have thought more "drivers and their problems" ?
Edit, but of course you already did...
"Four people have been injured after a car lost control"
Driverless cars strike again.
That render wasn't very securely attached, was it?
These things have consequences
I guess it's a railroad over there, so it sort of counts.
Anyway, I enjoyed my fly-through of Niagra Falls, the town and all the day-to day-stuff you don't usually get to see.
Those autonomous cars!
