Cllr Andy Morgan, who represents the Heaton and Lostock ward said: âItâs been a massive issue for the last 12 months.
âPeople really took a dislike to the orca wands not just because of the physical look of them look of them, which is quite terrible, in whatâs meant to be a conservation area but also because of the congestion they caused.â
I need to get my head around that one, a physical barrier to an area where no vehicles are legally allowed to enter causes congestion. Â
Not being able to see Councillor Morgan's tweets looks like an unexpected benefit. This is a very bad decision by Bolton Council- no doubt facilitated by a desire to appease the hyper-junk press and its misguided readers. Why were the malevolent drivers so keen on removing the wands? So that they could drive in the cycle lane whenever they wish!.. and if they hit a cyclist they can always claim that he couldn't be seen because of 'not enough H-i-Viz', 'sun in my eyes so I had to keep driving to get out of trouble' or whatever the shyster lawyers dream up in return for payment.
While the wands were in place, there were loads of cars always parked between them
The answer to this is not to blame the cyclists for causing illegal parking by demanding a sanctuary which is then abused by dimwits, it's enforcement of parking regulations

You're just trolling Rendel. The councillor was following the will of the people (having worked hard to get it - "...in some way against...") and although we build roads and licence driving any problems are clearly either freak accidents or the one-off actions of rogue drivers and in no way the responsibility of those who facilitated driving and not active travel (or who deprecated enforcement of safety on roads).
Not trolling - just pointing out the hypocrisy of stating that you are happy for protection to be loosened, and then sad that people die when no longer protected. Or alternatively, they are so ignorant that they think magic paint protects cyclists.

Blimey. I've not been accused of subtlety before. Good point though on communication though.
He thinks these look 'quite terrible'. What does he think about everything else on the roads eg the traffic lights, pedestrian barriers, road signs etc?
"What's meant to be a conservation area" - conservation of life not important, obviously. You'd think high-speed highways running through a conservation area might spoil the look of the place a bit, but apparently not.
Well, depending on the historical period of the area conservation of life and livelihood might not be in keeping. Particularly those of people who don't own the big houses or drive large carriages.
