D'oh a deer...driver in the countryside surprised to see deer https://www.northnorfolknews.co.uk/news/23380264.video-herd-deer-cross-s...
drivers bemoaning the absence of parking meters - say whaaaat
Ah yes, this will be the ones who are all perfectly safe to drive Cornwall's narrow lanes, but "Lots of confused and frustrated older customers calling in [the] shop asking what is happening with it as they either don't have a smart phone or are confused by multiple apps and longwinded payments."
https://www.cornwalllive.com/news/cornwall-news/cornwall-ticket-machines...
£2.50 to park after 6 pm.
I'm old enough to remember when £2.50 really would have got you 2 pints of lager and a packet of crisps - can you get anything to drink in a pub for that much now?
Oh, don't tell me the cost will be met from delaying buying that replacement tyre for the one that's on 1.8mm, or that brake disc with the amber advisory.
Wow, Mr Jones, imagine people getting things they need locally, rather than driving into Truro for them:
Cornwall Council's proposed car park increases 'will have serious impact' on Truro
BID manager writes: "Obviously our nighttime economy and leisure sectors may see a decline in customer numbers once those customers will have to pay for late afternoon / evening parking."
Mr Jones added: "Truro’s footfall data year to date versus 2019 is tracking at -27% therefore we need to be encouraging our customers into the city centre and not potentially providing a further barrier of increasing the car park charges which may see customers choosing to shop micro local in their own villages / towns rather than popping into Truro"

Ah nuts! Comments closed as a result almost certainly due to mad driver posters - AGAIN!

Don't wear a hairclip when driving.

Nothing to do with
"In the thick fog I couldn't see clearly and I came to an unexpected bend. I tried to brake and make the turn on time, but I lost control of the car and it skidded across to the other side of the road.
"I think I hit a tree, which caused the car to flip - the police said it flipped 50 metres," she said.
Baby hospitalised in collision with bike hanger that ‘council was warned could be dangerous’

Good job that in the long parking bay that there were no cars she could have crashed into. Oh wait, crashing into parked cars is normal.
"A motorist is more likely to make national news headlines if he knocks over a nine year-old girl’s snowman than if he knocks over a nine year-old girl. Fact."

Earby man banned from the road after trying to help at crash
So you're caught over the drink drive limit after stopping your car to help after a crash. How do you defend such a charge?
Start with
And, if that doesn't work, try a bit of whataboutary:

"Look LBH at this chaos you created by your ill-planned schemes. Massive congestion, more pollution, more accidents. "
"How does the layout cause somebody to drive their car into the side of a massive red bus driving down a straight piece of road?"
Exact date when Paignton's ring road will open again
A reminder from the article of the belly-aching when this started: "When work began on the road, businesses in Brixham warned that they were going to be “cut off” for the duration of the project, and local schools and colleges said their students would face long delays getting to and from their studies"
From what I can see, Brixham seems to have survived, and it hasn't been the Seige of Paris 1870-71 after all.
Open in time for Easter, BTW.

Villagers fear being 'trapped in homes' during major roadworks
We haven't had a trapped in our homes story for a while:
“It’s a nightmarish thought as there are around 350 residents’ cars that need to use the diversion, quite apart from delivery, service and emergency vehicles. Many of us are afraid of being trapped in our homes or facing unmanageable traffic problems,” said Mrs Hibberd. “We are sick with worry.”

Aye! It's tough for drivers oop in t'North. In Lancashire, even the MOT testing garages can't afford MOTs!

Top Bath Conservative member accuses council of 'woke extremism'
so, no doubt aware of of that is going down in Oxford...
Mr Pritchard said: “People don’t want to live in your dystopian carless world where everyone will stay in their designated 15-minute zones. People want to do their bit for the environment their own way and to live their lives in freedom and comfort. Nobody has ever asked for an eco dictatorship.

Banned driver sparked 140mph police pursuit after motoring court hearing
Any self respecting driver, having been banned from driving, would go home at 140mph. They've got to get off the road as quickly as possible!

Singer wins appeal over Bournemouth bus stop parking ticket
But Miss he made me do it, Miss.
Drivers and the seering injustice of a parking ticket remedied (but see photo)
Describing his reaction to receiving the tribunal outcome, he said: “It was like celebrating a goal at the football. I was in the office and I kind of fist pumped. Everyone was looking at me and I said ‘I got the parking ticket overturned’.”
Cue: victory for the little man, etc although Leonora 38 has the right idea. See also: 50 kg of equipment, brief, charidee.

Court success for man accused of driving offence in Salisbury
https://www.salisburyjournal.co.uk/news/23404458.court-success-man-accus...
Ah, once again, it's the little man vs the driver-oppressing machine, with his court success. I wonder what really went on here, how it became a newspaper story/what the pose is all about and why passengers make any difference to following road rules.

Van driver freed after narrow bridge blunder in village
Having looked it up on Street view, at either end of the bridge there is a narrowing with 7'6 warnings. I'm guessing that they aren't the same width on either end.

Police and firefighters attended a car that had flipped at 5am in Whixall, near Whitchurch, Shropshire on Sunday morning. Later that day a Passat driver was arrested on suspicion of being intoxicated and car seized in Telford. On a Sunday!!

There were also 2 separate car fires in Telford and Ironbridge in the early hours of Sunday morning and one in Shrewsbury that evening:
