Honour for CyclingMikey

I mentioned in a post that I would support an honour for CyclingMikey. I have quite a lot of work to do but it is boring and complicated so I have been procrastinating instead. My procrastination took the form of looking up how honours nominations work. It turns out they ask you for personal information about the nominee... which I don't have because that would mean I am a weird stalker. Still in procrastination mode, I emailed them to ask what happens in situations where you don't have personal info and I got the following reply:

"Yes you can still nominate them, in their personal details you can either input approx age, area they live such as the county and any other information you know about the individual.

Please include as much detail as possible when completing the nomination form. Any information that is not known please leave blank. We do however require at least two people to support the nomination to take it forward. These can be anyone other than yourself as the nominator, who know the nominee and their work they are being nominated for.

Unfortunately without support letters we are unable to proceed with the nomination"

So, does anyone want in? Do Road CC want to do a bit of coordination do we're not all sharing personal details (that might be a big ask seeing as I posted a cheeky meme about road cc half an hour ago)

If you're new please join in and if you have questions pop them below and the forum regulars will answer as best we can.

What the person does

who for

Their personal qualities

If you look at the guidance on honours, I did a couple of MBE citations for work many years ago, there are these 3 identifiable themes.

On personal qualities, Mikey seems to tick an awful lot of the boxes.

The problem with who for is that it's a bit diffuse - you ideally want to be able to say "people experiencing breast cancer in Swindon over the  past 10 years".

And of course what he actually does needs careful handling, so it's supporting the police in promoting road safety and enforcement.

Definitely support this, as I said elsewhere, two things though, firstly does anyone know whether or not Mikey would want such recognition? From what I've seen of him on Twitter he is, despite the rubbish certain people (including regularly-suspended trolls on here) come out with about him being an egomaniac, a genuinely self-effacing and modest guy, it might not be his cuppa. Secondly, is he actually a British citizen? I know he's Zimbabwe-born and most of his family seem to live in the Netherlands, as far as I'm aware apart from the occasional honorary knighthood honours recipients have to be UK citizens, don't they?

On on a squizz through the published guidance, citizenship didn't come across as an issue.

I'd like to say that I'm behind this, but I just don't feel that I have any personal connection with Mike. I totally support what he's doing, but it's not where I live and all I've seen is media reports on him, so it feels disingenuous for me to do anything except provide internet comment support (or maybe chuck in a donation if he needs a camera upgrade etc).

(I'm also not a fan of the honours system, but that's not a deal-breaker)
