Google generally doesn't provide Street view imagery for non-drivable routes although there are many exceptions to that. It is possible for anyone with a 360 video camera to upload their own imagery via Street View Studio. I've done it for a few off-road sectors near where I live although not with anything like the quality of official imagery. When in GSV if you look top left on the page you can see who did the images, usually Google but sometimes a third party.
If you have a 360° camera and you're willing to do it for Google for free...

You don't even need a 360degree camera. If you've got an Android phone, you can upload 'photo path' images, which are not 360 degree, but are ideal for things like cycle paths, where you're mainly concerned with an image of the surface.
This is what it looks like on streetview:

Latest news is that google is soon discontinuing the ability to upload photo paths.

Looks like they're getting rid of the street view app, which is a shame (21st March 2023). I'm hoping they integrate the photo path feature with the maps app and add iOS support.
Thanks all.
So next course of business is to get it de-obstacle-coursed.
Here's a street view of the Bristol-Bath cycle path, so they do do some of them: https://www.google.com/maps/@51.4614126,-2.5622799,3a,75y,63.01h,81.21t/data=!3m7!1e1!3m5!1sAF1QipNm9p6HLLMwzU6Sf3sQxXFLQli49QsDbeLE4vM!2e10!3e11!7i7680!8i3840
Maybe they put their camera on one of those speeding mopeds that use that route?
Google uses tricycles to map areas where cars can't go. Presumably they couldn't get it past the A-frame.

Ooh - a new career opportunity!
Not always a trike - all of the bike paths round Cheshire seem to have been filmed from a bike :
That won't be google, but a kind volunteer who has uploaded the imagery using their own equipment.
