Video: Mont Ventoux Boris Biker is back – film of NYC Citibike challenge premieres this week

SW London’s Sigma Sport hosts Thursday’s screening following crew from London to Mount Washington and back

Remember the cyclists who hired a Boris Bike, rode it up Mont Ventoux, and got it back to a docking station in London within 24 hours of picking it up? Well, their latest exploit saw them fly to New York City to hire a Citibike and take it up Mount Washington – and a film about it premieres at south west London bike shop Sigma Sport this Thursday.

Located in New Hampshire, at 6,288 feet Mount Washington is the highest mountain in the north eastern United States, and has an average gradient of 12.5 per cent. Once again, it was Rob Holden who tackled the ascent.

He and his support team were set the challenge of leaving London, getting to New York City, hiring a Citibike, identical to a Boris Bike other than the livery, then drive to New Hampshire to tackle the climb before retracing their steps and getting back to the UK – all in the space of 36 hours.

The film of their efforts, called Boris vs NYC, has its world premiere at Sigma Sport in Hampton at 7pm this Thursday and there is an open invitation on the Facebook page set up to follow the challenge.

So far the challenge has raised more than £1,350 for MacMillan Cancer Support plus $177 for Liverstrong. Here’s the trailer.

Good luck to that guy!
Since last November I've been trying to spot the Boris Bike he used, but still havent seen it.

I've had most of the numbers around it, and different combos of the same number but still eludes me!
But fingers crossed we will cross paths at some point!
