Video: Chris Akrigg takes Mongoose Selous CX bike for a spin - and more

Trials ace nails trick after trick in the woods on 'cross bike...

With the cyclo-cross season well under way, Chris Akrigg has dug out the Mongoose Selous he got his hands on earlier this year to take it for a spin in his own inimitable style.

The Yorkshire-born trials rider, who is sponsored by the brand best known for its BMX and mountain bikes, is once again filmed putting the bike through its paces.

The video, called ChrisCross 2, is has the sub-title ‘Revenge of the Curly Wurly Bars’ for reasons that remain unclear as Akrigg nails trick after trick.

Akrigg says: “I read somewhere that Cyclocross originated for roadies back in the day trying to spice up their winter training.

“They would race from point to point using whatever means possible, racing down farm tracks and running across fields with the bike on their back etc.

“That was their spin. My background is trials, and this is my spin!”

If you missed the original video earlier this year, here it is.

A jolly good little film but it would be a lot more pleasant without that horrible din in the background.

Just goes to prove its the rider, not the bike, that makes a good cyclist. Chris does things on a cx bike that I would (and have) fail on a mountain bike.

Great video
