Rapha unveil 2015 Team Sky clothing

Rapha releases 2015 replica Team Sky jersey with one small change, but it's mostly business as usual

Last week we reported on the news that the Team Sky squad had been spotted wearing some new Rapha clothing at a training camp in Mallorca, and today Rapha have officially unveiled the 2015 Team Sky kit on their website. Well, the replica kit anyway, which means you can wear the new kit before the team are allowed, they have to wait until January 1st.

This is the new Team Sky Replica Jersey then. The Replica products are lower-priced versions of the kit worn by the pros, and Rapha says the “2015 edition has been updated with a flat-faced, knitted stretch fabric for a snug, comfortable fit.”

From the front it's a case of spot the difference with the new jersey, it doesn’t look at all different to the current strip does it? It has the same iconic colour scheme, blue stripe, and the same bunch of sponsor logos clustered around the the top of the chest.

That is until you look at the back of the jersey, where there are now faint vertical stripes from the top of the pockets to the shoulders. We've no idea what has inspired this change, could it be the result of a new fabric development, or designed to increase breathability perhaps? We'll pester Rapha and try and find out. The jersey costs £75 and is available in team edition black or a blue colour option.

The Team Sky Tricolor Jersey is brand new and was first spotted being worn by Geraint Thomas last week. It’s a Team Sky version of the classic Club Jersey basically, with the central band in the Team Sky blue colour,  and the top half of the jersey is white and the lower half is black. This is the jersey to wear if you want to show your support for Team Sky, but don’t want to look like a mobile billboard. Away from the Team Sky connection, it’s a lovely looking jersey with a really nice colourway. It’ll set you back £110.

Other updated garments include this Team Sky Spray Jacket. It’s not designed for wearing on the bike, though it has all the necessary details that should enable it to work on the bike, such as the lightweight water-resistant and windproof fabric, Lycra cuffs and offset main zipp. The graphics have been honed down for 2015 as well.

That’s all Rapha are releasing at the moment. We’re sure there are more new items to come soon, because there’s no sign of the Brevet jersey and gilet that Ben Swift was spotted wearing on the team training camp last week, or the new Winter Jersey Bernie Eisel was spotted wearing. We’ll just have to wait and see

Yes. They haven't been wearing the new official race jersey, they've simply been spotted wearing some of the new training tops that Rapha have developed to expand the Team Sky replica range, such as the Club jersey that has just been announced

If we're being picky, it's only the replica kit so the team wouldn't lower themselves to wear this, anyway.

The same amount 100's of thousands of sports clubs around the world pay?

Seems a tad high but still a reasonable price in comparison.

Perhaps the faint stripes are so people will buy a new kit each year, just like football clubs, money money
