The Dude Abides - Kristian House's Big Lebowski themed stem cap

JLT Condor rider nicknamed The Dude references cult movie namesake in custom piece of kit

A custom paint job or decals on the frame to reflect a rider’s nickname isn’t that unusual but yesterday at the Tour of Yorkshire we found a much more discreet example in the shape of Kristian House’s stem cap.

The JLT-Condor rider, British champion in 2009, is originally from Kent but grew up in Texas, his accent definitely owing more to the other side of the Atlantic.

He’s nicknamed The Dude, and his stem cap features the eponymous character played so memorably by Jeff Bridges in the cult movie, The Big Lebowski, with the line from the film, “The Dude Abides.”

House told us that Khush from Somerset-based Kapz had been asking him for a while if he could do a bespoke stem cap for him – and eventually he suggested the one that they laser etched and which now adorns his Condor Leggero.

We think it’s a nice touch – it certainly brought a smile to our face when we spotted it.

I saw this, thought it was Kapz and was surprised to see someone elses name. Kustomcaps seem a world away from what Khush can do, I got a fantastic headset cap from him last year and a couple of engraved spacers. Fast delivery, amazing quality. I'll be getting another cap soon for my second bike for sure.

When I read the article, it mentioned neither Kush nor Kapz but attributed the cap to KustomCaps, who seem like decent folk but cannot produce the same sort of graphics. It was subsequently fixed and I was left looking like an idiot. Not an uncommon occurrence.

That looks like the work of Kush over at Kapz. He just did some lovely engraving for me, including bar-end plugs. Cool guy as well.

I'm the Dude. So that's what you call me. You know, that or, uh, His Dudeness, or uh, Duder, or El Duderino if you're not into the whole brevity thing...
