Video: On-bike camera gives great view of Peter Sagan's California win

Superb bike handling as Slovak rider takes second win for Tinkoff-Saxo

Peter Sagan came second in the first three stages of this year’s Amgen Tour of California. Yesterday though he made it fourth time lucky as he won in Avila Beach despite a couple of tight corners inside the final kilometre – and on-bike footage gives a great view of his bike handling skills.

The rear-facing camera was on the bike of Drapac Pro Cycling rider Graeme Brown and shows the Slovak rider taking those last two bends then powering through in the home straight to win from Wouter Wippert and Mark Cavendish.

Can you say bike handling? Peter Sagan shows his skills in the final 2 corners to earn his first California win with Tinkoff Saxo. View from Drapac Professional Cycling's Graeme Brown.

It’s his second win since joining Tinkoff-Saxo, and surprisingly only his third in the past 12 months – though last July he won the Tour de France points classification without winning a stage.

And while he retained his Slovak national title in June last year, that race is held jointly with the Czech national championships, with Sagan finishing second to the Czech Republic’s Zdenek Stybar.

Unsurprisingly, then, he celebrated yesterday’s victory in typically exuberant fashion as this video shows.

Finally, here’s the race highlights video which gives you a view of the sprint from a more conventional aspect.

You say that Sagen made it "4th time lucky" in Avila Beach. Does luck really come into play in the pro cycling world? Or is it that maybe he's a very good cyclist? If luck is involved I might win my next Ironman then 4

I saw at least 4 occasions in that video when someone clipped the rear wheel of the Graeme Brown's bike, crazy stuff!

Would much rather this sort of action than all of the crash cam stuff that first started appearing when pro's wore cameras.

I don't see any. Sagan comes very close but doesn't touch it.

Great example of the benefits of 'on bike' cameras.

Sagan's horrendous kit is actually growing on me! After the initial early-season shock and disgust at the assault on the eyes, I'm now more of the opinion that it's so ugly, it's actually quite attractive.

Glad to see him get another win, he's always entertaining to watch, but seems to have become a victim of his own high-profile and been marked out of contention in the final stages of big races the last couple of seasons.

Is he still in the mix for an overall win at the ToC?
