Bike LIVE Dalby: Ride a Ribble R872, Gran Fondo and the Aero 883

Check out the Ribble models you can try at our Dalby Forest demo day

Our next Bike LIVE event takes place on Saturday 17th June, here is a run down of what bikes Ribble Cycles are bringing for you to ride if you come along.

Bike LIVE is our series of demo days with the first one being held last weekend at the Odd Down Circuit, Bath, which saw over 150 of you turning up to test ride bikes of all shapes and sizes from a range of brands and the second was Cannock Chase.

We'll be following a similar format at Dalby Forest too and with the likes of Rose, Canyon, Giant, Liv, Ribble, Salsa, Moustache, Whyte, Kalkhoff, Haibike and Cube already signed up it’s going to be the perfect day for you to try out as many bikes as you can. Thanks to the launch of our new site off-road.cc  there won't just be road bikes on offer, there'll be plenty of MTB's and Gravel/Adventure bikes too all with designated routes and tracks to test them on.

There will be eBikes too courtesy of our sister site ebiketips.co.uk

Tickets are currently £20 but our Early Bird discount offer ends on bank holiday monday, 29th May so if you fancy a full day of testing bikes from different brands then click this to be directed to our booking page. Tickets will be £30 from then on.

Ribble Cycles are bringing a fleet of fifteen bikes to Bike LIVE:

  • R872 Black    (in sizes S,M,L)
  • R872 Silver    (in sizes S,M,L)
  • Gran Fondo   (in sizes S,M,L)
  • Aero 883         (in sizes S,M,L)

R872

The R872 is Ribble's signature carbon road race bike with the model available on the day being the newly updated 2017 version. It's been made stiffer thanks to updated tube profiles and tweaked carbon fibre layups.

Ribble describe it as a fast, efficient and competitive bike for racing, sportives or triathlons. It's also now available in this matt silver colour as well as the black

Gran Fondo

The Gran Fondo is designed for big rides with its slightly more relaxed geometry over that of a racing bike but it's still designed to be ridden quickly and comfortably whether out on the Sunday club run or taking on your favourite sportive.

Aero 883

The Aero 883 is Ribble's take on the aerodynamic road bike genre with its oversized Kamm Tail (a teardrop shape whose "tail" straight cut reduces air turbulence) edged seat and down tubes, internal cable routing and rear wheel cut-out.

It was designed in collaboration with a UK company working with the Formula 1 and Moto GP teams so it'll be interesting to see just how fast this thing is at Dalby.

Since writing his first bike review for road.cc back in early 2009 senior product reviewer Stu has tested more than a thousand pieces of kit, and hundreds of bikes.

With an HND in mechanical engineering and previous roles as a CNC programmer/machinist, draughtsman and development engineer (working in new product design) Stu understands what it takes to bring a product to market. A mix of that knowledge combined with his love of road and gravel cycling puts him in the ideal position to put the latest kit through its paces.

He first made the switch to road cycling in 1999, primarily for fitness, but it didn’t take long for his competitive side to take over which led to around ten years as a time triallist and some pretty decent results. These days though riding is more about escapism, keeping the weight off and just enjoying the fact that he gets to ride the latest technology as part of his day job.
