Strava Premium: loads of perks and free insurance thrown in

Upgrade your Strava experience with a new Premium portal

Strava has introduced a number of new features for its Strava Premium members who pay £5.99 a month for the app.

The benefits include free cyclist-specific insurance and discounts on cycling brands.

All Premium members in the UK, USA, and Australia can access Sundays Insurance, which provides free smartphone and GPS device accidental damage cover (for devices used while recording Strava activities), taxi reimbursement for mechanical breakdowns, and race entry reimbursement, in case you get injured.

A new portal house the benefits aimed at athletes with new perks added regularly.

Premium members will be able to get discounts from brands such as Wiggle and Science in Sport.

“We know that Premium members join to get the most out of their sport and the most out of Strava,” says David Lorsch, VP Strategy & Business Development at Strava, “which is why we’re committed to continually developing new features as well as introducing these new perks for athletes.

“Premium is our all-out effort to keep athletes safe, improve their performance, and to make every activity as enjoyable as possible; we’ve carefully selected partners and providers who share this same ethos.”

Premium will continue to host features such as workout analysis, race analysis, custom goals, training plans, Live Segments, live performance data and heart rate analysis.

Premium athletes can also access one of Strava’s newest features, Beacon, which allows athletes to share their real-time location with select safety contacts.

Strava Premium is £5.99 per month or £44.99 annually.

If you’re not yet on Strava and want to know what the fuss is all about, check out our feature on the six reasons you should get the app.

I'm  a huge STRAVA fan, I think the subs for premium members are worth every penny/pound..

I've nothing but praise for the app, and the tech support.

I agree that there's not that much additional benefit..apart from heat maps, better stats..etc. in premium membership..and they (STRAVA) support staff have mouths to feed   3

That 'insurance' is so riddled with T&Cs as to be pretty much worthless. The 'free' (minimum spend £20) gel offer you can get without Strava right now, the 20 off a 100 Wiggle order I guess is the best one.

I read that, not very much at all was Ray's conclusion. I just stopped my annual subscription because I don't care for the white interface and new ride ordering.

All the benefits featured are US based. Is there a plan for the UK?

Some offers are just quoted in USD. They still work in the UK!
