New slimline fast commuter rack from Tortec

Minimalist load carrier should appeal to audax riders too

We tested Tortec's Reflector mudguards recently but the company has also introduced a new rack, the Velocity aimed at commuters and audax riders.

Made from TIG welded 10mm aluminium tubing with stainless steel fittings what sets the Velocity apart is it's sliminline look and light weight – Tortec claim two big advantages for this. The rack's narrowness means that load weight is kept closer to the centre of the bike which makes, they say, for better overall stability and in particular improved cornering performance over similar bikes fitted with standard racks. The second advantage is purely aesthetic in that it's simply a sleeker looking piece of kit than a standard rack.

Load capacity if a hefty 25Kg and the Velocity also features a rear light mounting plate, it's available in a choice of black or silver and it's available in two widths, the Velocity suits tyres up to 26c/ 1.25in, and the Velocity Hybrid is deisgned to fit wider tyres up to 38c/ 1.75in Suggested retail price is £29.99.

I chose the Velocity Hybrid rack for my road bike for small loads, but I still found it obtrusive when fitted. I eventually modified it as shown in photo. I'm happier now

That is such a quality product.
Roughly the same weight as my Tubus Fly in steel,if maybe a tad lighter. But half the price.!!
Already have some Tortec mudguards.
Such great value for money.
