Witness appeal after N Wales cyclist's fatal crash

Rider died at scene, no other vehicle thought involved

North Wales police are appealing for witnesses to an incident in which a cyclist died.

The man in his fifties succumbed to injuries suffered when he crashed while riding on the A470 between Dolgellau and Machynlleth close to Minffordd on Sunday.

A spokesman for North Wales Police said: “The police and ambulance were informed at around 10am of a male cyclist having fallen from his bike.

“Upon arrival, a male, from the local area and in his 50s, was pronounced dead due to the injuries he had received in the fall.

“North Wales Police are keen to contact any witnesses who saw the cyclist on the A487 in the vicinity of Tal-y-Llyn reservoir.”

Crash scene investigators arrived at the scene shortly after the crash and, having closed the road, spent several hours there investigating the causes of the incident. They do not believe any other vehicle was involved but still wish to speak to any witnesses.

They are urged to contact either PC1667 Rob Owen or Sgt 840 Jones Welch, NWP Roads Policing, on 101 if in Wales, 0845 6071001 (Welsh line) or 0845 6071002 (English line).
