Sugoi's Formula FX mitts are designed for on or off road use. Looking at the size of the padding, the rougher the better.
The palm is an 80/20 mix of polyester and polyurethane which creates a soft yet surprisingly robust fabric especially considering how thin it is. There are a few ventilation holes placed at the wrist and middle of the palm to help air flow. Thanks to the thick gel pads raising your palm slightly off of the bars, these actually work, as the warm air has somewhere to escape. Your hands still get hot but mine were noticeably less sweaty.
Those pads are positioned along the bottom of your fingers, one on the thumb and two at the base of the palm to protect your ulnar nerve. These two are quite thick at 6mm deep but the gel in them does compress without losing its overall shape.
The upper uses nylon with 18 percent Lycra to give them stretch for a snug fit. The material is a mesh that lets plenty of air through. You'll find the area between thumb and fingers uses a thinner material plus there is also a snot/sweat wipe on the outside of the thumb.
Thanks to the elastic fabric the Formula FXs are easy to get on and off and very comfortable once on. They're cool on hot days as all of that mesh lets the warm air escape as the wind passes over the top.
Holding them in place is a narrow rubber Velcro backed tab and it's a decent length. There is nothing worse than having a gap once the tab is done up to allow the rough side of the Velcro to irritate the skin. The wide opening they provide also aids getting them on and off.
Overall the fit is good and the pads work very well at taking out the road buzz and thankfully they stay put once your upper body weight is placed on them. The quality looks tidy enough with neat stitching and finishing. They come in black/white or white/black in sizes from S – XL.
If you are a fan of plain kit, the only thing that could put you off is the logos. The Sugoi branding appears three times on the upper. I've seen these for a bit less than the £28 RRP and they look pretty good value for money especially for the comfort.
Verdict
Cool, comfortable, tidy pair of mitts with so much branding they should be paying you sponsorship

FYI: off-road riders tend towards no padding.
