Made with 100% polyester, the jersey is pretty standard when it comes to materials. It feels thick on first touch and you just know it's going to be warm. The inside is brushed soft, leaving a feeling much like fleece.
The collar is not as soft as the rest of the inside and feels the same as the outer. However it's a fairly high collar which does offer some protection against cold winds. The cuffs are not as tight as they could be. They sit quite loosely against your arm, which is fine if you pull your gloves over them.
The fabric is reliably breathable. I took it for a day in the hills and I was able to wear it without a jacket. I was also wearing a merino base layer, but the jersey did keep me satisfyingly warm. Of course there was a bit of sweat, but I soon cooled down again. The warmth of the jersey will ultimately depend on how fast you ride, but it works really well in about 5 degrees with no jacket.
The jersey has a dropped rear with two regular pockets and one internalised waterproof pocket. The two larger ones are a decent size and deep enough for a water bottle to fit in comfortably. The zipped pocket is handy for a phone or keys. My phone was too big for it (HTC M8) but an iPhone or similar would fit.
The fit feels true to size and this was a size small; roomy enough for a base layer and movements felt comfortable. The drop-tail has a waist gripper which does help the jersey to keep your assets covered.
The Funkier jersey costs £49.99 and you get a good amount for your money. The long sleeves are a bonus in the colder weather. It looks great with some, dare I say it, funky colours and designs happening. It's bold and stands out from generic jerseys making it something very different.
